I visited this facility

We liked Pacifica Senior Living Vista, it seemed like the care was really good, and it's in my brother's budget. The rooms were a good size, the staff seemed nice, and it was really clean. One thing we noticed that seemed interesting was we saw more residents walking around here than the other places we went to, and we like that. Some were outside, some were walking in the halls, and some were in different rooms. In some of the places we went to we didn't see anybody, just maybe one or two out of a hundred residents. In this facility, we probably saw thirty people out of a hundred, so we like that. It seemed to be more active, and the people seemed to be active, too, like my brother. We wanted a place where he wouldn't sit in his room all day. They have a one-bedroom-apartment type of room. They have a bus that takes residents to field trips and doctor's appointments. There's also a kind of walking path.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother moved into Alta Vista about ten days ago and is very happy so far. Leading up to getting her there from a bad out-of-state situation required a lot of coordination and help. Holly was AMAZING during the entire process! She had a wonderful attitude and helped us every step of the way, even returning a phone call on her day off. On move-in day David, the Executive Director, helped get my Mom into a spare room while we awaited the delivery of the bed we ordered. Everyone has been wonderful. Carrie and Rachel from the front desk are super sweet and very helpful. My Mom has commented on how nice all her caregivers are and how good the food is. I think my Mom will continue to be very happy there.

I am/was a resident of this facility

A+ friendliness, taking time for our needs. A+ food, attractive presentation and clean. A+ making a point of using first names thus conveying atmosphere of family and constant friendliness. A+ well organized and supervised activities. A+ comfort and caring and variety. A+ interesting trips and entertainment. I have very little I could think of to complain about Alta Vista. I'm just very happy with being here. It is remarkable. The lighting that they have indoors is all placed in exactly the right places. The light from the patio door is very sufficient because we don't spend that much time in our rooms. We are involved in so many different things. I have been here since June. I'm on the second floor because I have hearing problems. My brother didn't want me living down on the first floor with a patio door. He didn't feel that would be good for me. We have laundry service and cleaning service. It is also the first place of this type that I have been in where you can put your trash outside your door any time of the day as long as it is tied up and secure. It is such a wonderful thing to be doing. We all keep our places very odor-free. It is always taken care of; I don't think it is outside your door for more than two hours. Whoever comes by to pick up a resident and bring them somewhere, whoever comes by to remind them that it is mealtime or anybody else that might be delivering food, they pick up whatever you have outside your door. That's great. It is A1! They're doing a lot of remodeling here right now. There has been a lot of changing of areas for activities and for eating because they re-did the dining floor. The management has done really well with working with the people that are doing the work. I would recommend it. In fact, I'm so enthused about my place that I have it decorated, and the management said that I did a good job. We also have transportation to doctor's and once a week to Walmart. And once a week we also have a ride to a place where we have something of interest.

I like Alta Vista Senior Living. It's a nice facility and they're remodeling it. The personnel is very nice. It's close to doctors' offices and right next door to a hospital. They have activities and excursions to take the residents out on. Their dining area has great food. My father loves the food there. There are a lot of stains on the carpet and I wasn't too impressed with that, but overall, I like the place. It's a great fit for my dad, and I understand that they're going through renovations.

I visited this facility

Alta Vista Senior Living was under construction, and they had holes in their wall, and were laying down carpet. Having my mom go into assisted living for the first time, I didn't want her to immediately hate it or think that it is what it is. I just wanted a really easy move-in process. The timing wasn't right. The staff member was great and answered all of my questions. They have an activities board, and there were support dogs and an exercise class going on when I visited. The layout seemed great and the structure seemed fine. It's older, and it's going to be a little bit nicer since they're updating.

We didn't like The Manse. It seemed disorganized and not well maintained. It didn't impress us at all. It needed maintenance. Even from the outside it looked like it needed work. They had painted something and there were paint drippings all around the concrete outside. It just was sloppy.

My father has been in Vista Gardens Memory Care for almost a year now. The grounds are very nice. My father comments on how nice the place is and how nice the people are when we go and talk to him. The staff members are very nice and caring. They call everybody by name, both the residents as well as families. When they have concerns, they'll bring them to our attention. The rooms are nice, clean, and large. They have both shared and private rooms. They have daily activities, too. People come in to take them out to walk in the garden. They have special events, motorcycle club, car club with an antique car show, carnivals, and various activities for them to get involved in.

We were supposed to go here, but the room they offered didn't have any sunshine. The place is a bit confusing, but the food is very good. They also have covered parking and basement storage, which we don't have at our current community. The space was OK, but the color scheme wasn't very good. It's dark and they re-carpeted it in dark brown so it looks gloomy.

Information About Assisted Living Facilities in Vista

Assisted living in Vista , California is a pleasant prospect, if only because the city enjoys a near perfect climate. Far enough from the coast to get plenty of sunshine, but not far enough to be subjected to desert heat, the weather is ideal.

In fact, the phrase ‘not too little, and not too much’ applies to almost every aspect of life in this city.

Vista Attractions

Assisted living in Vista is rich with entertainment choices. The city has not one, but two venues for community theater: the Avo Playhouse and the open-air Moonlight Amphitheatre, which specializes in musical productions. For those who prefer more active recreation, senior discounts and heated pools make the town’s Wave Waterpark a great way to spend an afternoon. Seniors can join in Aqua Aerobics sessions, or float in the temperature-controlled competition pool while the grandkids delight in the park’s many waterslides.

Vista Senior Activities

The Gloria E. McClellan Senior Center hosts a friendship group, a garden club, movie screenings, exercise sessions, dancing and adult education. Lifelong learners enjoying assisted living in Vista can pick up new computer skills, participate in a knitting circle or learn a new language. And that’s not all, the Center has a partnership with OASIS, a non-profit organization which enhances the lives of senior citizens through learning and service programs. OASIS offers seniors opportunities to study history, politics and the arts, have their writing published in the OASIS Journal, and volunteer in tutoring programs, passing their knowledge on to the next generation.

Vista Medical Facilities

Tri-City Medical Center, a full-service hospital complete with hospice service, is a mere three miles away from communities of assisted living in Vista in neighboring Oceanside. Emergency medical services are available along with the full range of standard medical treatment at several of Vista’s many clinics, such as Urgent Care of Vista and Quality Care Medical Center.

Vista Transportation

In addition to the public bus and commuter rail systems operated by the North County Transit District, residents of assisted living in Vista can get around the city with Out & About Vista, which provides door-to-door travel to local shopping centers, banks, grocery stores and theatrical productions. The city also operates the popular trip program, Culture Caravan, which enables seniors to visit out-of-town attractions without the bother of doing the driving themselves. The Caravan’s deluxe motor coaches are air-conditioned, non-smoking and staffed with experienced, courteous, well-trained escorts to assist passengers with any and all needs. Excursions are wide-ranging in type and duration, from stays in glamorous Palm Springs or Viejas Casino, to homey pleasures such as Christmas Light tours.
