I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Mom was here for skilled nursing and rehab for almost a week post ankle surgery. She was miserable the whole time and asked me to transfer her to another facility within a couple days. When she saw the staff she loved them. They are very nice people but very understaffed and maybe not organized with their duties because it was her attention to care that suffered. On one day I visited I had to clean feces off her foot and she had feces left on her casted foot the entire time she stayed there. The food was terrible. They did not clean and my my Mom asked me to bring disinfectant wipes. Her hearing aids were lost while she was there. A search was done of the room, bed and her things. My Mom was an RN in the Navy, Skilled Nursing and Community Health. She knows busy and is very tolerant but even she was scared to death shecwas going to get an infection there. She hardly ate unless we brought food to her. The heat was unbearable since it could not be regulated in the room. She incoherent, confused and excessively sleepy at times to our concern and to the point that she called her Dr. to see if she might be suffering short term memory loss. Come to find out from the new facility on the first day she arrived, her blood pressure was extremely low and her medications needed to be altered right away. I thought the staff was pleasant but not present for the patients essential care and health.

I am a past client of this provider

This is more of a,suggestion than a review, I was a patient there for 35 days, I noticed that the Nursing is overworked,, I had to receive IV antibiotics, and only a RN can administer it, and there is,only one RN on duty at a,time so when there are multiple IVs to be administered he or she has to run around to administer them on schedule, I was on one side of building and the other two were on the other side, when the alarm went off shehe had,to run around to correct and reset it, they should put all the IVs in same room or rooms on the same side making it easier for the nurses to administer them. Also instead of assigning CNAs rooms have them work together if your not with a,patient answer the next call button, take care of all the patients in need, That way the patients will be taken care of and each Aide won\'t be stressed out,

We toured this place back in 2017 and decided it was not the right place for my father. He DIED in 2020 and we are still getting emails from their marketing people EVEN AFTER telling them multiple times that he is dead. Gives you a good idea how poorly this organization must be run and what their priorities are...money.

We liked Pacifica Senior Living Vista, it seemed like the care was really good, and it's in my brother's budget. The rooms were a good size, the staff seemed nice, and it was really clean. One thing we noticed that seemed interesting was we saw more residents walking around here than the other places we went to, and we like that. Some were outside, some were walking in the halls, and some were in different rooms. In some of the places we went to we didn't see anybody, just maybe one or two out of a hundred residents. In this facility, we probably saw thirty people out of a hundred, so we like that. It seemed to be more active, and the people seemed to be active, too, like my brother. We wanted a place where he wouldn't sit in his room all day. They have a one-bedroom-apartment type of room. They have a bus that takes residents to field trips and doctor's appointments. There's also a kind of walking path.

Atria Collwood is a facility where everything is provided for you, that includes the food, transportation, and help with medical appointments. They had one-room units, and a very nice, and very caring staff. I think they're a group of people that really like what they do, and they seemed to really like each other. The facility is not brand new, but still very well-maintained. They have an exercise room, a library, a community dining area, and common areas with a rose garden. It's a pretty extensive place. They do exercise every day and provide care for your daily needs in terms of meals. Right now, because of COVID, they bring the meals to the people rather than using the community space, but there were some people who were in the community area who were spaced six feet apart. They observed all of those rules. I think it's a positive environment for anyone that's in the position of having to have assisted living, even if I am not at that point yet.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm at Grossmont Gardens and they're very accommodating here. The staff is quite friendly. I love my apartment, and it has a lot more space than I expected. It's very pretty inside and very peaceful. If you look outside, they also have the gardens, and it's wonderful. The meals are very good too. I'm very content. I watch different activities from my patio, and they're great. The seniors that live here are so friendly, and they're open to meeting new people.

We went to see La Vida Real. It's the one we can't afford. We've been there several times, and they invite us back when they have events. Of course, this past year they haven't been able to do much unless it's outside, but they have kept up with us all along. That place is really beautiful, and the staff is really nice. The people are really happy there, and even their programs (when they have them) were really above and beyond. I guess you get what you pay for. They have two different swimming pools. We actually took an aerobics class in one of the pools. My sister and I took that together because outsiders were allowed at that time. It was more like in the middle of the place, so the people could sit out on their balconies and watch if they wanted. That was nice. They have beautiful amenities all over the place. The rooms were very nice; they were larger than your average room. They have a big hall where they have activities. They have a Christmas show there with people singing and dancing, and while they were doing all that, their staff is going around offering you different hors d'oeuvres. Things are fabulous because they have fabulous chefs there. We have had lunch there twice, and the food is outstanding. The staff is wonderful -- they're really attentive. Even if they're on a phone call and you walk up to them, they will take the time to say, "I'll be with you in just a moment," instead of just ignoring you. All the staff seems very, very happy, and they had mentioned to us how long they've been with La Vida Real because they said, "It's a great job, we're really happy here, and we love our residents." It was very impressive that as we went through the hall, the manager of the place was saying hello to the different residents and the staff, and he knew every one of them by name. I found that to be very impressive, because it's a very big place. The staff is great.

I visited this facility

We went to Solstice Senior Living at El Cajon. They were very welcoming to begin with. When we first went in, there was a man who works at the desk to check people going through, record their temperature, and ask questions about COVID and all that. (Of course we all wore masks.) We met up with John. He is very, very welcoming, and he told us a lot about the facility itself. He showed us the dining room and the different rooms that the people gather in usually -- but in these times things are different. They have that part of the dining room set up with social distancing. He said there are a few people who come in and want to eat in the dining room, but most of the people are getting their food delivered to them. Because of that they got a new system where they have these hot boxes that they take, so that the food stays hot, and they get to the people hot. We thought that was acceptable. He told us all the things that they do to make sure that the place is clean and sanitized. I think he said three times a day they go through and they use things to help to cut down cold viruses, and things like that. He showed us two one-bedrooms that were side-by-side, and they were very nice. We liked them very much; they had everything that we would probably need. Then he took us to see one that is a little bit different. They had taken two different rooms, a studio and a one-bedroom, and they put it together. So you can make it into a two-bedroom, or you could make a bigger living room, or whatever you wanted to do, and it had a nice bay window. Everything was very, very nice, and the grounds were beautiful. They didn't have a swimming pool, but it didn't really matter to us. Everything was very nice and spread out. The people who we saw, they seemed very happy. They were socially distancing, they were all wearing masks, and they were all very mobile. Everybody was welcoming to us -- even the people who lived there. When we left, he gave us an apple caramel pie that the chef there makes to give to the people who come to visit, and that was excellent.

My mother is doing fine at Stanford Court Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center. My overall experience has been good. Everything seems clean. The staff seems friendly when I call. Right now, they have no activities because of Covid, but they used to play Bingo, poker, card games, and they might have an ice cream social.
