The facility looks clean and has good security in Memory Care but most staff were often not nice or responsive to my husband in Memory care. I overheard them being verbally curt with him over the phone on speaker several times. The medical director called me to complain that my husband had a BM in his room and they had to clean up the mess and put him in the shower. Really? Isn’t that part of their job. My husband died from complications of multiple infections that he acquired in less than a month living at Legacy Ridge. Staff ultimately called ER but it was too late.

Merrill Gardens was by far the best of all the places that we saw. It was going to be perfect for us price-wise and in terms of their amenities. The rooms were substantially large, and their amenities were significant in terms of features and activities that they do. The food smelled good, and they also have doctors come in.

Brookdale Neese Road was once Terrace at Woodstock an Emeritus community. This community is all on one level and provides assisted living and a secure memory care neighborhood with cognition appropriate activities. Care staffing changes often, the community has a head nurse and the Executive Director is a nurse as well, she used to the the Wellness Director for that community prior to accepting the role of Executive Director. Many families have voiced concerns about lack of oversight by the care staff and the care staff being disorganized especially with new medication orders. This community is an option for those looking for a senior living community in Woodstock but I would suggest extensive family oversight of resident care.

Brookdale Woodstock was previously Woodstock Estates an Emeritus building prior to the Emeritus/Brookdale merger. This community resembles a southern plantation and has old southern charm with attractive while pillars and rocking chairs at the front of the building. The community has multiple floors and could use remodeling as the decor is very dated. The care in the community is top notch, the head nurse Verncia Curry is very professional, available and attentive to her residents and families. The Executive Director Joyce Greene provides excellent support to her families and residents in the community. Care concerns are addressed immediately by the leadership team. The food and activities are nice but could slightly improve in variety and presentation, especially the food. The community although older is very clean and lacks any odor. I would certainly recommend this community to family and friends.
