We chose Brookdale Lake Tavares because it was reasonable, we get everything, and the room is spacious. We’re impressed, the people were very good, and answered all our questions. We ate there and it was very good, the 2-bedroom, and 1-bedroom was very nice, and I couldn’t find any negatives. The building was 40 years old, a lot of the rooms were renovated, but it’s very sturdy and presentable. We will be moving there.

I toured Brookdale Lake Tavares, and it seemed like it would be a nice place. The staff was very helpful and very nice. The dining area looked nice. The room seemed accommodating, and better than some I’ve read about.

Osprey Lodge was very expensive and the rooms were not much better than my mother's room. She has a lot more room where she is, but it's a beautiful facility. They have music going on and they have some beautiful community areas, but if you're in a less secure unit, you can't have access to them anyway. It was well-maintained, and the residents were very well taken care of. I saw two gardens there.

My visit with Brookdale Lake Tavares was very good. The room they showed us was nice. It was a nice facility. They showed us the dining room and the library. They go on outings. It was family oriented, and they have things for people to do. It was very clean and the people seemed happy there. The staff member was very nice and answered all my questions.

I stayed at Osprey Lodge, and it was OK, but they don't have anything physical for older people besides walking. It can be cleaner, especially with housekeeping, because they don't dust and really get behind everything. They have singing. The staff members were fine, they did their job, they did it well, and they were courteous. However, the nursing help was rude and not very accommodating.

My parents-in-law are in Osprey Lodge, but I'm not happy with it. The place is beautiful, but the nursing is terrible and the communication between nurses and the familes are awful. Their apartments are really nice, but the care is not good. They have lots of activities like music, games, and transportation. The food is terrible.

I did not care for Brookdale Lake Tavares. It was not clean, and the receptionist was untrained and sounded totally helpless. We had a simple, OK lunch. We saw a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom apartment. The two-bedroom apartment didn't have a stove in the kitchen, which I wanted, and it was very small. Even the bedroom was small. Most of the rooms didn't have a good view; you're just looking out on a parking lot. It didn't have a swimming pool and it was more for sedentary residents. Meals were served at certain times. I had a salad, deviled eggs, and soup but the soup was not very good. There was no flavor. The deviled eggs were OK.

We loved Osprey Lodge and that's where we plan on going when necessary. Everything stood out, the rooms, all the facilities, and everything they do for you. They come in and make your bed every morning, they clean your room every week, do all your laundry, even personal laundry, you can have a dog and they'll walk it for you, and there are all kinds of activities and entertainment. They've got everything. They have anything you want as far as activities. The food was superb.

Brookdale Lake Tavares is very nice but one thing I found out about them is if my sister becomes bedridden, I have to find another place for her. I really liked the community. It was very clean and had an outside patio with tables and chairs. It was on a lake and had seats down near the lake. It was very picturesque, and the scenery out in the back was gorgeous. The rooms were nice, too. They had a very large bedroom, living area, and kitchenette, so it’s adequate. The staff answered all of my questions. They had activities and a bus to take them to events, doctors, to the grocery store, or wherever they want to go.
