What is it they say? When one door closes another opens. Such has been my experience in moving into my nonagenarian years. Gone are the house on the golf course, the SUV, my beloved dog, the husband years ago...but wait, this isn't all a downer. I toured a new assisted living/memory care facility nearby with my son and daughter-in-law before it opened never dreaming it was to be my new home. Such has been the case, and I am in my second year within its walls among the residents and staff. Living alone is now a "has been," and I am happy here in my small apartment which I love. Imagine the pleasure living in all new decorator surroundings and dining 3 times a day with friends having similar interests. A pendant I wear about my neck has a button that when pressed brings an aide to my side. A daily page greets me filled with activities and local bus trips. Because we are so new, the administrative staff is responsive when hearing how best they can serve us. Lake Port Square is a beautiful place. The grounds are wonderful, beautiful, and park-like. It's like a very nice hotel. The staff is very good and very attentive. We're very happy here. Our apartment has a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a lanai. They have a lot of activities, a swimming pool, swimming exercises, and chair exercises. It's full service, which goes all the way into assisted living and respite care. They have a physical therapy staff. You can either go to the PT facility or you can have them come to your apartment. We haven't had any complaints. The food is very good and restaurant quality.

Savannah Manor was OK, but it’s still an older house. It was a little bit bigger than the other places, and the person in charge was really nice. She sat down and talked to us initially before we started the tour. She tried to make sure it was what we wanted and needed. The tour was OK. They have a dining room, a library, and some of the people were watching TV in another family room area. They have shared rooms, and I didn’t like the space.

I like Lake Port Square. The setting was very nice; there were many trees. It was very pleasant. The thing I like best about the place was that they have lovely views of a very nice wooded area. They also have a lovely dining room. I had lunch there and the food was good. The people were very nice. The staff was very pleasant and very nice. The floorplans were odd, but they have nice views. However, they did not have garages, but they didn't have good parking arrangement.

Lake Port Square is very nice. The grounds and rooms are beautiful. The person that assisted me was really nice. I think that they cover everything, there's so many nice things. They have a lovely dining room, even a bar and they also have a little store where you can get things you might run out of.
