Carlton Senior Living Pleasant Hill's staff was very accommodating and the lady who gave us the tour was very good. My mother moved in in July and she's very happy with everybody. The food is very good. She's living in an apartment that's fairly new, remodelled, very clea,n and nice. They have Bingo, they play cards, people come for entertainment and movies. It's a very nice community.
Carlton Senior Living Pleasant Hill (Formerly Chateau Pleasant Hill) was nice, but the apartments were very small and there wasn't a community area there. They're in the middle of a big remodel so their great room was closed off when we went. So, it wasn't a great time to see the place. It looks like it's going to be nice when it's all finished, but overall, we felt like the rooms were too small and the public areas were not really spacious. There are no views or anything like that for the price that they were asking. There also weren't a lot of activities compared to some of the other places.
Carlton Senior Living Pleasant Hill was my least favorite, though it was still good. It was a little older and smaller than others, and I was looking for a suitable place for two 90-year-olds. It seemed more attuned to younger folks, like 70 to 80 years old, who were more active. The menu looked fine. They had many activities for the folks.
Chateau I and II are sister properties across from each other, that have a total of 149 units of studio and one bedroom apartments. The units all have upgraded kitchens with granite countertops, full size refrigerators, a sink, and a microwave. Each unit also has a lovely garden window and either a patio or balcony. They have a diabetes management program, a hydro tub, and an onsite fitness center and beauty salon. Dining is available all day from 7am to 7 pm., with both a regular menu and daily special options. There is also a small café where residents can help themselves to light snacks and beverages 24/7. They offer many field trips and have fun daily activities. They also have Live 2 B Healthy fitness classes, which are of great benefit to the residents. Residents are asked to pay for their own phone, cable and internet cost, although there are several common areas where free WiFi can be accessed by the residents.There is a lovely courtyard which they use for events, such as monthly summer concerts. They are also very pet friendly. Their monthly rent is reasonable for the San Francisco area. Chateau I and II are a gem!
I left my grand mom here as she was not feeling comfortable at our home. She is a dementia patient so she needs a lot of care. The staff here is very friendly and involve them in various kind of activities. I am definitely going to recommend them to anyone who is looking for senior living.
I have been a resident of Chateau II Assisted Living for over a year. The staff is friendly and helpful; the facility clean and well-maintained. There is a lovely deck where one can read, overlooking a wooded area w/creek. Mind-broadening and other activities are available. The salad bar is great; wine every night. The food tends to be bland and could be warmer. Overall, I have a positive feeling about Chateau II.
My mother was a resident at Chateau Pleasant Hill. She was hospitalized May, 2013 for severe back pain after a fall. When she returned to The Chateau her pain medication was taken away from her, even though the discharge doctor ordered that she could have her "as needed" pain medication. Her personal physician had ordered a narcotic pain medication. She was instead given Tyelenol whenever she asked for medication for severe pain, being lied to that Tyelenol was the medication ordered for her. When her personal physician asked if her narcotic pain medication was being given he was also lied to, as the Chateau never filled the pain medication until 6 days after it was ordered directly with the Chateau pharmacist. She spent days in severe pain, while the pharmacy staff knew she was not being given appropriate pain medication. When the pharmacy supervisor was informed what was happening, she laughed. That is how concerned the Chateau is about the elderly people they are supposed to be taking care of. They knew how sick she was, she was unable to get out of bed to get any of her meals. When I immediately removed my mother from the Chateau, she was given a bill for $1,326.16, for bathing care and pharmacy charges for one single month, not the cost of the medications themselves, just to hand her the pills. The charges were for the entire month of June, when I removed her from the Chateau on June 4th. She was charged for an entire month of baths, when she was never given a single bath, and medications she never received for the ridiculous price of $1,326.16. This for letting her lay in bed in severe pain and giving her the wrong medication. After informing the Chateau of these fraudulent and deceitful charges, they lowered the bill to $409.59, their charge for 6 days of giving my mother the the WRONG MEDICATION. The CEO of Carlson Senior Living, who owns the Chateau never even bothered to answer my letters, obviously could care less about the quality of care of the residents of the Chateaus, whether or not they receive the right medications, or how much the residents are overbilled.
