I visited this facility

The Reutlinger is contemporary with high ceilings but sterile and hospital-like. It doesn't feel very homey. However, I think their care is top notch, and the service is very good. They have very nice activities and a fabulous art program. My husband is not into arts, but it is impressive. I really like The Reutlinger, but I don't think they would have taken my husband because I think he was too difficult for them.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We've placed my friend at Sunrise of Danville. So far, we're happy. They're very friendly, and I feel she's safe there. Communication is excellent. She doesn't leave the facility because my main concern was her safety. She has a nice, small room with a very large bathroom, a little microwave, and a refrigerator. They have a salon, a library, and a movie room, and she takes the bus on Sundays to go to mass. I'm very pleased. The staff members are excellent. They're really the ones that make it great. I haven't personally tasted the food, but she hasn't complained. The facility is great, clean, and nice. There's plenty of activities for her to participate in. She qualified for low income, so the value is excellent. They only have a certain number of apartments that they can offer as low income, but that definitely was a blessing. They let her have her dog. They cannot have pets if they have to be in Reminisce, which is their full memory care unit. In the general community, even though she can't leave and most of them have memory and dementia issues, they're still highly functional, so they can have pets as long as they can care for them.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The rooms in Brookdale Danville are very nice. My mom is in a one-bedroom apartment after getting switched from a two-bedroom and both are great. The staff is great and very caring, and I haven't seen a lot of turnover. I highly recommend them. The food is not great, but it's good. They don't have a swimming pool, gym, or anything like that. Sometimes the place is clean but other times it could be cleaner. They seem to be struggling with the cleaning crew. I know every care community is expensive, but it was a little extreme to me for what she gets. They're friendly, and it's a good place to call home.

I visited this facility

Brookdale is a smaller facility and it didn't have as many people, so that was an advantage. It was nicer, clean, and the people were nice. The residents came up to talk to us. However, it was more expensive.
