I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father-in-law is in here. There have been a lot of issues with him during the transition, but it is typical. It takes time. The people there are great with communication though from what i can tell. I like the facility, but he hates everything and that is typical because he has only been there 2 weeks. The staff was fantastic, and he is in a studio apartment there. As for the activities, I know that they had some kind of an Easter thing last Friday. Everything looks clean and nice. It did not have any bad odor like you usually get in nursing homes. The people are great from what I can tell. They have a hair salon, a theater room, and a library. They also have a bird sanctuary on the ground and a chapel. They have several different areas set up and places for residents to do things.

It is a nice facility. It's a good placement. I think the staff is very friendly and cooperative, so in that regard, it's good. Her room fits her needs. I think it's spacious enough for her. The administrative staff and nursing team is doing an excellent job.

I visited this facility

It is a smaller place and I thought it would be better for my husband because he is going to require closer care there. It was very nice. The staff showed me around and he was very accommodating and answered all my questions. The tour was very nice. It's a smaller scale, so the dining room was smaller. The rooms were nice and remodeled. It had a little kitchen area with a table, a bedroom, and a lounge chair. They had a little bus bringing some people back from a shopping tour. Everything was very clean, neat, and organized.

I visited this facility

It was roomy and all on one floor. From the outside appearance, it looked really nice. There were lots of renovations going on inside. The grounds were spacious and protected. The staff showed us everything around there and answered all our questions. They had freshly baked chocolate chip cookies when you entered the place. The lobby and the reception area were very attractive. They had a library which I liked.

We really like The Princess Martha, especially the room that was available at that particular time. It's right on the pool level, but in the corner. Being a one-time elegant hotel, it looked very hotelish on the first floor, but once you go beyond there it's more homey. The staff who assisted me was very friendly and very accommodating. There are a lot of more activities like a fishing club and nightly poker. Of course, they have more flexibility than assisted living as far as the activities where the residents initiated some of those activities. We would have chosen this place as an ideal independent living community, but in reality, we are concerned about my dad's memory, so that's why we didn't consider them in the end.

My mom seems very happy here. She's enjoying the food. It's a larger property, so there's more people and a lot of activities. She's really enjoying the movies, playing Bingo and going out in groups to lunch or dinner. The staff is very good so far. The dining area is very nice, and there's a nice pool with a dock on the water.

I liked The Princess Martha a lot. That's #1 on my list. I liked the location since it's downtown, and you don't have to drive far to do something. The person who took me around was a very fine gentleman who answered my questions, showed me everything, and did a beautiful job. I thought everything was good there.

I visited The Princess Martha. I thought it was decent, nice, and in the middle of Saint Petersburg. They were setting up where they were going to get parking, which would have been helpful. They didn't have parking at that time. They were going to get indoor parking. The older building was close to 100 years old.

My brother feels very comfortable at The Princess Martha, and he feels like he's in his own backyard. Transportation's good, and it's a good place for him. The staff was wonderful and very kind. One particularly great person is Alan Martinez who did a really fine job of making us feel comfortable. The rooms had some problems with plumbing, but they came and fixed those things immediately and have been very responsive. They have a great pool, and they're starting to construct a parking garage. It's very friendly and people work very hard to keep you happy. The place is clean, and the food is good. The staff is good, knowledgeable, helpful, stay on top of everything, and seem to work well with each other. The only real complaint I have about it is the stairways. I want to offer to help paint the stairways. They need to be upgraded because they're pretty grungy.
