Its population is a little over 107,000 and has increased 94 percent since 2000. Just 28 miles outside of Houston, The Woodlands is best-known as being a haven for economic growth and development. Some of the corporate campuses located there include Chevron Philipps, Hewitt Associates, and the Petroleum Corporation. In fact, The Woodlands earned a Special Award for Excellence from the Urban Land Institute in 1994.Back in 2008, The Woodlands did receive a significant amount of damage due to Hurricane Ike; however, the weather is relatively mild. The winter temperatures average around 60 degrees, the summer highs peak between 90-95 degrees, the perfect temperature range for many seniors considering a move to assisted living in The Woodlands.
