I Visited This Facility

The director of Sunrise of Minnetonka gave us the tour. They were very welcoming and friendly. Everything is good there. If I had to go into one of these places, I would consider going there. What we really liked about this community was that we got to talk to some of the residents who were very friendly and one was a Korean War veteran, which was the same as my mother's husband. There were a lot of things going on, so they can relate, talk, and socialize. It was a really good place. What I like about them compared to the other community we visited was that they can take you as you are now. When you get dementia or whatever, they put you in the memory care but allow your spouse to come with you to live in the same room.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

Sunrise of Minnetonka is wonderful and their staff is wonderful. We pulled in there unannounced one Sunday morning and asked if we could see the facility and they were gracious to see us. The lady there answered all our questions and gave us more information than we even thought about asking. The rooms were very clean, and when you move in, they're freshly repainted. The carpets were clean and the hallways were bright, light, and they have beautiful pictures on the wall. They’ve made the facilities look like what you would see in your grandmother's home, which is very impressive. The kitchen area is perfect and the ladies and gentlemen love it. They have a doctor who comes in when needed, and they're there twice a month, which is relieving and reassuring. They have a podiatrist who checks my mother-in-law's toenails. They have a beauty shop, a beautiful library, and three activity rooms. The neatest thing that they have is a bistro where they can get water and homemade cookies. They also have a beautiful garden where the people can go out, but it's all secure. It's just phenomenal. We had dinner with Mom when we first moved her in, and the food is incredible and served restaurant-style.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My father-in-law was in Sunrise before he passed away. It's a very good place. We were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the place, the caring of everybody, and the general involvement by the staff. It was a good experience for us, and a good experience for Dad. You can go fishing, and he joined in for Oktoberfest. The price maybe higher than some places, but you get your money's worth.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

When one listens to the representatives from Sunrise talk about their facility it sounds wonderful. What one experiences is quite different. My father was accepted to stay at Sunrise in Minnetonka. We were told they could handle his Parkinson's disease and medication schedule. We were told he was able to go there and that they could handle it. We were told that they have other residents with similar issues. We did not sugar coat my Dad's condition at all. They were given 72 pages of nurses notes about my father and his recent history. They sent their own RN to examine and question him. They sent their social worker to review his case. My mother wrote them a check, we moved him in to his room. We thought it would be a great place for him. Boy, were we wrong. They are kicking him out as of tomorrow after only 4 days. Tonight is his last night there. They completely messed him up while he was there by missing his medications on his first day and also completely changing the medication schedule. My dad needs skilled care and they knew it, or they should have known it. I can't believe they allowed this to happen. They saw dollar signs when they reviewed my father's case. I'd think twice before allowing my loved one to stay here. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who needs medications on a strict schedule! They are unable to follow a simple medication schedule. They have too few staff people on weekends to handle the situation. They don't know how to handle a person with Parkinson's disease and dementia. They completely misrepresented their ability to care for my father.
