Most of it was good, but the rooms were very small. Everything was fine. I saw their activities calendar.
The staff answered all my questions. As you walk in, it's almost the dining room, then the respite care bedroom, and then down the hall was another room. It's a small place, but it was very nice. The room I saw just had a bedroom, a bed, a chest, a bathroom, and a chair, which was fine for respite. Everything seemed great there.
They don't know when the doctors will visit. They feel it is not important for family to visit. The doctors tell me to ask Brookdale to assist in having FMLA forms signed, as the medical records are kept at the facility. The executive director says she doesn't know where the medical records are, "I imagine the doctors have them on little digital thingys". This woman also told me it was my fault I don't have enough days off from work to come visit my mother. She told me it was not necessary for me to visit with my mother. I sure hope she lives in a facility someday and has no visits from family, she deserves to be ignored.
We are aware you have spoken with our District Director of Operations, and together are working on a resolution to your concerns.
I had the chance of visiting Brookdale Bay Pines and was drawn to the big patio area located out back. Which had multiple rest areas for enjoying fresh air or simply listening to birds chirp. They have apartments that comes with carpet. And even though they were small. They are easy to access and have a nice design to them. The dining room was huge. With beautiful chandeliers and curtains hanging from above. And they do offer three home cooked meals a day. I did see a computer lab which has free wifi, a big library which have tons of selections, and a movie room with high comfy chairs. Just some of the activities one can enjoy.
