The best way to get to know a community is by scheduling a tour. See the facilities, meet the staff and residents, and get a feel first hand what it's like to live at Brookdale Deer Creek Assisted Living.
Brookdale Deer Creek is an economical choice positioned right next to Hillsboro Avenue, which would not have been a desirable location because of the traffic. The rooms were desirable, although it's an older building. It had possibilities. They took people golfing or to restaurants. The price was just right.
Brookdale Deer Creek was nice and clean, and the people were nice. The biggest thing was the walking distance to the dining room because my mother gets tired easily. A girl showed me two rooms, which were very nice, but not big enough and did not a whole lot of closet space. I did not see any washer and dryer in the ones that I looked at.
The place looked really nice but it was a pig with lipstick on. The care my Mom got was sub-standard. The food was awful, the housekeeping didn't do the room half the time and they failed to change the mattress cover, which I had requested, I had left 3 so it would be easy. They gave her her meds wrong and we had 20 pills left over a month twice. It was very important that she got it twice a day. The night nurses had a big attitude problem. Her things were stolen when the room was locked. Her walker vanished. No one there really cared about anything except telling lies about what they promised how they were going to take care of my Mom until money was paid and she was living there. The rehab was even bad. They don't have the equipment they need or a person to work with older people. What looks great on the surface may hide really big problems. She lost ground quickly and I had to move her to a place that she would get better care. Visit often and go when a meal is served. Never let them know when you are going there and check meds to make sure they are getting what they need. Good Luck here!,

Brookdale Deer Creek was very good, but it needed a little updating. It was a very nice place, but it didn't have as many facilities as the other place I've visited. The attitude of the staff, and the housekeeping was all good. The management team was all very good. The rooms and apartments were nice and adequate in terms of size, but they didn't have kitchenettes in the apartments.
