I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The Oaks is absolutely the best assisted living facility! From management to the caregivers to the dining and cleaning staff, every single person is helpful, kind, and caring. The atmosphere is genuinely friendly, and it is clear the staff genuinely care about the residents and their families. I was impressed that the staff came to Marie’s memorial, which was absolutely the kindest thing I have ever seen! I want to recognize the entire team, especially the caregivers who took such loving care of Marie. They were incredibly patient and professional, staying calm and helpful even when Marie was upset. Their ability to de-escalate situations with kindness is remarkable. Honestly, the whole experience was exceptional. My only hope is that you continue to maintain this incredible standard of care and keep the wonderful team you have in place. We will miss seeing the staff and management team who have been a part of our lives for over a year. Love, John & Joan

No stars for Rose Garden in Surprise Arizona. This is a Cal-Am Property. The security gate is broken. No security. The streets are old and run down. The park shows little upkeep. Park smells bad from crumbling sewer and water pipes. This is a very expensive $ place to live. $1000.00 just in space rent, that doesn’t include a mortgage payment. That could mean a high monthly payment together. This management cares nothing about residents needs at all. They only collect money. This is a warning. Once you get in, they make it difficult to get out. Stay away from this depressing place and all Cal-Am properties.

The food is atrocious. I refused to eat a bite. I wouldn't give it to my dogs. The rooms are small with two people to a room which brings me to my next report. The lady next to me was crying for well over an hour, more likely almost 2 hours, "Help me. Please help me. Please please please help me. I'm cold. Please please please help me. I finally started audio recording her cries so that I can show her family when I see them. I called my friend to tell her. I kills me to hear her cry and beg like that and have them ignore her. I couldn't get my meds on time. Finally, after going to sleep, the nurse came several hours late and I told her to keep her meds. I'm seeking a transfer out of here at sunrise. My contingency plan is that if I don't get a transfer, I will let them transport me to a doctor visit and then I won't come back. They are out of water. Have no gloves in the rooms and I witnesses workers going from room to room without ever changing gloves. There are piles of bagged trash everywhere. This is a place you might expect to see in a 3rd world country.

Nice spacious rooms. The food is basic bland gross cafeteria food. The 'caregivers' need loads of training and need to learn how to do all of the job. They are pleasant to your face. They do not clean. There is a roach problem. One tenant had food trash EVERYWHERE and it had been there a long time - cleaning once a week is supposed to be included - they obviously do not perform cleaning on a regular basis. They do not assist with hygiene unless you pressure them to. Our family member was here for less than 4 months, and we had to move him because they did not do what they said they would and were contracted to do.

My wife died of "natural causes" at LiAnn's ca. 3:00AM. The "house doctor" Dr. Livi refused to sign the death certificate. He said, I could agree with him, he had nothing to do with h3er. It also had several errors. I have filed a document with the Attorney General of Arizona.
