The tour at The Montecito was fine. The lady who led us around was very friendly and very helpful. There were a couple of things that we didn't like about this place. Number 1 was their bathroom. Their showers didn't seem safe to me. The place was very small and not very inviting at all. If you want to go eat or go visit with somebody, you have to go outside to do that.
I visited The Montecito and would love to live there. It's really nice and a little more elegant. They're more tuned into what their clients want and were more accommodating. The place is newer construction. It's prettier and nicely kept up with nice furniture and everything. The activities sounded really good from what I heard. I had a meal and I enjoyed it. They don't take Medicaid.
I had a little casita at The Montecito. It was very lovely and well-kept. The biggest problem I found with them was they had combined independent with assisted living for meals, and I found it very depressing. They had a lovely, large room for entertaining. It was an auditorium with large beautiful chairs and couches, and it was very nice. The dining room was lovely, with nice silverware, glassware and dishes. You were served individually by a waiter or waitress, and their food was really good. They had very good activities, but they could have had more exercise. The management was very nice, but they were sold and bought seven times within one year. The cost was higher but relatively worthwhile.
When I toured The Montecito, I walked into a place where everyone was smiling. They had all sorts of activities and a wonderful workout room. It had bright colors and felt welcoming, not dark and dingy. They had a beautiful dining room and spotless kitchen. They also have another bistro out by the swimming pool, and they had two pools. It didn't have a lot of walking trails, but the way the property is laid out, I could get my 10,000 steps in there easily. The only people who had room rooms are those in the assisted living, otherwise people live in little casitas. The casitas have these big beautiful patios and you can get a garage if you like. They're not looking at you like you're going to pass on any time now, and as long as you pay your bills they'll feed you. The staff is wonderful, very outgoing and welcoming. The residents were all smiling. They had a Dean Martin impersonator there and Western nights. They keep everybody bright, cheery, and active, even in the rain. I would recommend them to anybody and everybody. The grounds aren't big, and they kept apologizing for the landscaping because theyre doing a transition and hired new gardeners. I would go there in a minute. The dining area had tablecloths, a menu to die for and a variety of choices. They only give you two meals a day, but you have a kitchen in your quarters and a dining room. There was only one drawback that I didn't like, it's that the shower is a teeny tiny little stall. I looked at the chefs, the kitchen and everything, which were all neat and clean.
