I thought Heather Heights was very nice. The young lady who gave us the tour, Erin, was very knowledgeable, and she had all the answers that we were looking for. The facility has a lot to offer. It's a good assisted living organization, and it seemed to have a lot of good social interactions for getting the residents out and about. We're strongly looking at it right now, and we're probably going to bring my mom in there next week for her to decide, "Yes, this is the place that will be OK for me," or not. I didn't try the food, but we saw the menus, and they looked very nice. The facility offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as an ice-cream shop that's open every day at certain times. The menu was very open to dietary needs, so it looked pretty good to us. The facility was clean, it was organized, it was in a nice location, and it had a lot of amenities to it.

Brookdale Pittsford was a lovely facility, and it would be great if my mom didn't have mobility issues. It's a wonderful facility with great staff. It is memory care, but she uses a wheelchair and the way it's laid out would be very difficult for her to get down to activities and get back and forth on her own. Although they accepted her, I think she needs more attention and more of an enhanced assisted living memory care facility. They have regular music therapists that come in and occupational therapists that work with the residents for daily living tasks, like setting the tables and folding the napkins. It helps them work through the mental processes, which keeps them alert. They had organized card games and board games to work on processing and things like that. My mother had been in a facility of the same company in Syracuse so we knew about it and it was a great placement for her. This one wasn't the right placement for my mom but for a client that fits their profile, it would be very good. The staff had very good expertise and excellent training. It's assisted living and memory care combined but it was not the enhanced facility that my mom needs because of her mobility issues.
