I have visited The Gables of Brighton three times and I like it a lot. I was shown a variety of their rooms but they're doing renovations so there's construction on some of the rooms. I was invited to their reopening and I got to see things again. On the schedule of activities that they gave me, I noticed that some of the same things were repeated every day of the week. You have to pay for cable. There's a pond on the property, they didn't have private patios but they do have group patios and balconies that are pretty spacious and that was okay. I met a few of the residents and the ones I talked to were very active and had certain things they liked to do. I had lunch there, and when they had their open-house there was plenty of food and there was a photobooth and lots of things to do. There seemed to be a lot of people using walkers in this place, but they still seemed to be able to get out. There's also parking space that I found there that's in the shade. The director, salesperson and most of the people and the rest of the staff are all friendly and open. They're set back a little bit on a pretty busy area, near a highschool, and near a lot of different places for shopping. Their food is fine, I had so much of their food.

My mom likes Brookdale Brighton and we like it, but she is not ready to move right now. When it's time for her, she's going there because it's two miles away from where she lives now and it's very close to her friends. It's not as beautiful as the other place, but it's very homey, and comfortable. We looked at a studio and it really seemed big. We walked around and we saw the laundry rooms, which were huge. There was a two-hour window for you to go to a meal. You can go for lunch and eat between 11:00 and 1:00, which is a lot more flexible. The food was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly. It's not as modern, but it was clean, neat, attractive, and cozy. The outside had beautiful trees in the front, the landscaping was nice, and the inside was nice. It's a lot more affordable.

Brookdale Brighton offer a lot of activities. They have exercise groups like yoga or meditation, and they also go on outings like down to the lake, they go out to special lunches and dinners, and they also have computer classes, gardening, and lots of music activities. They serve two meals a day. I like that they have transportation so my mom can be independent, they can go within a seven-mile radius to stores or grocery shopping. My mom's apartment looks clean, nice, and taken care of. Their dining room also looks clean and well-organized, and it looks like a five star restaurant when you go in. The maintenance is good, so if my mom has a problem she just calls them and they come up.

I wasn't impressed with the Gables of Brighton. They have pull-cords in the room, they have taller lips on the edge of the tub, and they have a tag on the door so they can tell if the resident opens their door. They check on them at night. It was kind of antiquated, but yet they charge more than others. The staff was good, and the people that worked and lived there seemed happy, but the building was an old building.

The Gables of Brighton was very dark and depressing. The apartment was even worse. The staff was very nice and very helpful. I liked him a lot. The dining area looked nice; however, the place itself was very dark and depressing. The apartment was expensive. I was not happy there.

I thought that Brookdale Brighton was very nice. It seems to be well-run. They have a lot of activities for the residents like card games, speakers come in, and there are physical activities. It's an older building, but the grounds are very pleasant and well-kept. The location is convenient for me personally.
