A park like campus that provides a comfortable and secure home for active seniors in Indianapolis is Altenheim Senior Living. Our community is a beautiful 32 acres of gardens that has expansive lawns, paved walk paths and a mesmerizing fishing pond. We are conveniently near Beech Grove Indiana, Greenwood Park Mall and other local amenities.
Altenheim is part of the CarDon family of care. We are a pet loving community and understands the importance of having your furry friends to move in with the residents. It helps with making them settle faster. We offer a variety of floor plans from studio, one bedroom, two bedroom, and 3 bedroom apartments. Complete with own in suite bathroom, kitchenette, microwave oven, small refrigerator, climate control and spacious closets.
To ensure the safety of the residents, we have smoke detectors, sprinklers and alarm systems throughout the facility. We also have a beautiful pond and landscaped grounds with paved walk path where residents can stroll or have a picnic with other residents.
Available Services
Our community offers different level of care that will suit every resident. We carefully create a care program for each resident based on their profile to ensure they get the right care and services. Our staff are available on-site 24 hours a day ad treat every residents as family. We provide services like medication management, daily activities and personal care.
To ensure the well being of our residents, we have crated activities that promotes socialization and keep our residents stimulated and active. We also provide assistance in housekeeping, maintenance and laundry services. We have transportation services for residents that would take them to their appointments or go shopping.

I visited this facility
I went to Altenheim. The visit was good. It is a bigger place and not quite as personal as others. It is basically good. They have beautiful grounds and there are lot of parking spaces. They have very big overhang for picking up and dropping off people; that part is really great. Inside, the main area is nice. It has big windows looking out onto the woods and a worship area. They have more than one dining room, which I like. They also have a number of small sitting areas and a gift shop. I thought the layout was very nice. Their library was extremely small. The rooms were mostly studio apartments. The bathrooms were small, but they had big doors. There was not much in the way of kitchen, just a small fridge, a microwave, and no counter. The closet space was small too. The 1-bedrooms were a good size, but there weren't many of them. They have everything in one building except for independent living. The staff was very nice. The intake person was extremely helpful; however, the resident staff wasn't nearly as friendly as the ones in the other community.

I visited this facility
Altenheim Senior Living was interesting. The main campus was much older, with retro-modern buildings, but they didn't have any units available. The unit we saw was a 3-bedroom, 2-bath. They showed us that, and they offered to put us there until there's a unit available, but that did not go well with us. They have amenities, they served us lunch, but that was not so good. It took my husband 15 minutes to get a hamburger, and the special of the day was cold. It was not the place for us. The staff member left us sitting there, we didn't get to meet anybody, he never came back, and we didn't know what to do, so we went home. Also, it was in a bad neighborhood, and we didn't feel safe at all.
