Description of Avalon Park Retirement Residence
Here at Avalon Park we realize that choosing an assisted living facility is an important and emotional decision. We strive to provide you with the necessary information and service to make this transition as easy and stress-free as possible. Our residents are our priority and we do our best to provide them with the comforts of home...their new home.
We provide:

- Three home cooked meals plus snacks prepared by a Florida registered dietician

- A broad range of activities plus musical entertainment & holiday parties
- Licensed and professional staff
- Visiting physicians, on site full time nurse, access to physical and occupational therapy and medication management.
We participate in all Long Term Care Plans and work with all budgets. We will be more than happy to assist you in the qualification and application process. We personally evaluate each prospective resident to ensure we can offer the expected level and quality of care.
Our primary demographic is over 60 years of age. We are fully licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration.

I visited this facility
It was my first tour and I would not recommend Avalon Park Retirement Residence to anybody. The whole thing was weird because I had an appointment. I got there and then the guy came out and he was showing me and my mom rooms with people living in the rooms. We didn't actually see a room that was vacant. One lady was in hospice and he brought us into her room. In my opinion you shouldn't be bringing people in there to look at her living space. It was just very awkward. Every room we went into was occupied and I asked if we could see a room that wasn't, and then he was like, "I can show you this one, they're not in there, they're at lunch right now." The whole thing was weird. The dining room that they had was very small. We went into a whole bunch of different bedrooms. They had two-bedrooms where you would have to split with somebody else, which is not a problem. It's just the whole experience was very awkward. The staff was nice, very polite, and answered any questions. I just think he should've been better prepared with appointments, showing us stuff that we could actually move into. I'm not even sure if they had anything available because I don't understand why he would show us rooms that people were in. He should have showed us rooms that were available.

First off we would like to thank you for visiting our facility. We are sorry that you felt our tour process was not what you expected but we would like to clarify a few things that that you touched on in your review. When you had visited our facility you had indicated that you wanted to move your mom within the next 30 days, which is relatively quickly. We showed you rooms that were available at the time and we tried to avoid other residents as much as possible to comply with our covid 19 guidelines. I had mentioned that our availability of rooms for females (as opposed to males) was limited, so we showed you examples of shared and private rooms, some that were available and some that were shown as an example. Due to the layout of some of our units we had to pass by other people\'s living spaces to get around and we did not enter any occupied room without their permission, as was the case with one person you mentioned. You had driven all to our facility, and we wanted you to see as much as possible during your visit. Also I would like to mention that we typically show people rooms that have actual availability, you expressed interest in seeing a private room, which we did not have available at that time, so I tried my best to show you an example of one that was occupied at the time for reference. Unfortunately, we do not have dedicated \"model\" or \"display\" units at our facility as these take up valuable living space and can even be misleading to some people. Again we tried our best to show you and your mom our facility and we appreciate your time allowing us do so. We wish you and your mom all the best.
