Rose Garden Court was a good place. It was roomy inside. It looked dated as far as the interior but it was clean. The price is reasonable compared to other places, so it would have been fine. It looked like they had adequate number of staff. There was a lot going on, too. They had a common area, a dining area, and a small outdoor area.

My mom started in independent living at Villa Fontana Retirement Community and moved to their memory care. They're an amazing facility and pretty competitively priced. The owners are in healthcare prior to doing this so their focus is on nutrition and their meals are nutritious and delicious. They have exercise classes, bingo, and for the independent people they'll have the bus take them to museums and other places. There's also a dance studio with young girls who come over and dance, and the residents love that. They also have other outside people come in and play the piano. They have lots of choices for things to do. They’re very good about everything and the staff is excellent and outstanding. The place is very nice and clean, the layout is very nice, and easy to get around, and it smells good.

Atria Willow Glen was one of the better placed we looked at. It seemed like a really nice place. I'm looking forward to moving there. The food was very good. The whole experience was good. It was very pleasant. The room I saw was like an apartment with a living room, a bedroom, and a bath. They have several buildings there.

Belmont Village San Jose is senior assisted living. The rooms were OK. However, I was not pleased when I walked into the lobby. The person that was greeting us was at this small desk and behind her were these two filing cabinets, the wide kind; they sounded so cheap and they were jiggling. It made me wonder what was the rest of this place was like quality wise. Also, it was very expensive. They did have a nice menu. They were lots of activities going on.

My dad is at Belmont in San Jose. The food is awesome. The care and the activities are really organized. It is an amazing place and expensive, but I feel like in terms of what's going on over there, it is well worth it. They are just amazing. The difference between the menu at Belmont Village and the menu at the other community is it's far more superior. The place is very clean and generally organized. The space itself and dining room are very nice. They have arts and exercises. They encourage my dad to join, and he participates. He wasn't participating at all in the independent living, but here he does a lot more activities. The great thing about the Belmont is that their staff are hosting a lot of the games, so it is not just the people getting together. Having the staff organize and be there to facilitate makes a huge difference. From what I could see, it is a very professional organization.

San Jose Attractions

San Jose shopping facilities are second to none. Wherever you live, you are never more than a few minutes’ drive from a major shopping center. Eateries are plentiful and moderately priced. San Francisco, with all its charms, is about an hour’s drive north on either Highway 101 or Interstate 280, while the beaches of Santa Cruz are just over the mountain via Highway 17.

San Jose Senior Activities

A Level II trauma center, it has the only Bay Area hospital with a heliport large enough to support the largest evacuation aircraft.

San Jose Medical Center (formerly Kaiser Permanente) serves nearly 194,000 members, offering on-site bilingual caregivers and numerous specialized services. Its mission is to give its members the highest quality care and the resources they need to live life to the fullest.
