Located in a residential neighborhood of Northwest Spokane, Brookdale Nine Mile (formerly Clare Bridge of Spokane) offers outstanding care to seniors challenged by dementia and Alzheimer's. The combination of exploring the latest ideas in Alzheimer's and dementia care with over 25 years of healthcare experience makes us the best possible choice for seniors and their families.
At Brookdale Nine Mile we focus our efforts on aiding our residents' abilities rather than disabilities. We realize those suffering from Alzheimer's or dementia are experiencing a complex and progressive disease process. We therefore provide, through our ISC (Innovative Senior Care) team, on-site, pro-active physical, occupational and speech therapies which complement the therapeutic services provided by our licensed nursing team.
Individuals working with memory loss residents must have compassion, understanding and creativity. Our staff are carefully selected and trained to understand and manage the unique challenges associated with dementia. Many of the same caregivers are with a resident throughout the day, giving them a sense of familiarity while they are helped with their daily needs.
We are one of 50 providers participating in the Specialized Dementia Care Program (SDCP) in the State of Washington, and we accepted SDCP approved payments.
In 2008 and 2009, our community was honored by ALFA (Assisted Living Federation of America) in receiving their distinguished award as Champions of Senior Living. In 2009, Brookdale Nine Mile celebrated its 10-year anniversary of providing specialized dementia care services to Spokane and surrounding communities.
We are conveniently located near the VA Medical Center, Holy Family Hospital, Deaconess Hospital and Sacred Heart Hospital Medical Center.

The best way to get to know a community is by scheduling a tour. See the facilities, meet the staff and residents, and get a feel first hand what it's like to live at Brookdale Nine Mile Memory Care.
This is a horrible facility to place a loved one. The sales pitch was wonderful, but it all changed after we moved my mom in. House keeping was terrible. They say it’s done twice a week but we didn’t find that to be the case. We had to hound them to get it done. The toilet in her room rarely flushed. They rarely supplied toilet paper, tissue or paper towels. We’d have to ask for them when we visited. We were told they had a podiatrist that visited twice a month. Well, my mom’s feet looked horrible. Low and behold, no podiatrist. They said nursing would handle it but we ended up doing it ourselves because it didn’t get done. My mom developed severe edema while at Brookdale. This wasn’t their fault, but why didn’t they notice all the open sores on her legs when they showered her once a week? We had to get a wound care specialist because of their neglect. Lots of oven fried to death chicken strips are a standard meal. I never saw a meal that I’d serve in my home. Management is full of excuses but doesn’t ever seem to have an action plan to remedy a situation. They are also terrible at returning phone calls. All of this comes with a pretty high price tag. You should be able to expect excellent care, clean room, clean clothes, toilets that work, decent food, and responsive management. I will say that Stacey the receptionist is outstanding. But sadly that isn’t enough to overcome management that is lazy and complacement.
I found Brookdale Nine Mile for my parents. It's been good other than my dad passed away after they'd been there less than a week. They've taken excellent care of my mother, they've been great, and I can't say enough good about them. They've really bent over backwards to help her through this, especially with the pandemic going on. It's a smaller facility, and the care is really good because they're not spread out. The activities are much more limited than they would be in a normal situation, so she gets bored. For the most part, it's going pretty well. She moved to a smaller room, because they have a separate wing of the facility for the newer, incoming residents so they can be quarantined. Once she moved to the other room she was able to walk in the hallway while wearing a mask and keeping her distance. They have a crafts room and a library.
