I visited Solstice Senior Living at Bellingham, and I liked it. I liked the person who gave the tour, Randi. It seemed really nice. I liked the layout of the rooms and that they all had balconies or patios. I liked the place. I think my mother-in-law would like it, too. It is certainly convenient for her. It was close by things and close to Fairhaven. She is at a point where we could not pick her up and take her places, and she does not drive. There were a lot of residents out there, and they were in the lobby. Everybody seemed nice, there were a lot of people around, and it seemed like a good atmosphere. I did not see any activities going on, but that was probably just the time I was there; I was there just after lunch. They showed me the laundry facilities and a beauty salon. There were a lot of staff around, and they were interacting with the residents. They have people there twenty-four hours a day. The rooms were nice, they were laid out, and they have multiple floor plans. We were looking at a studio and a one-bedroom. There were people hanging out in the lobby. There were no activities, but they were sitting out in the lobby, they were talking, and they had coffee. We went into one room that was move-in ready; they had cleaned it, and it had new paint. It seemed like they were keeping up the rooms well. They had done some remodeling and repainting of some of the rooms. Everything I saw looked nice.

I am forwarding this on because of the complaints, lack of response and follow through on several basic issues from simply getting a television to work in their room to the neglect in the dining room. My family is paying for services that they are not getting. 1) The meals aFrre the biggest complaint. Our parents go to the dining room to eat and it takes nearly an hour to get their food from the time they order. When they do get it, it is cold, not what they ordered, or there food never shows up. This is unacceptable, particularly for people who depend on this service and are paying for it. Often, this lack of service interferes with doctor and therapist appointments that they will be late for. My parents end up not eating and going hungry. We wrote a letter to relay that this neglect is unacceptable and there have been several follow up conversations. All of these receive the same response, “We’re working on it.” I did a search on reviews for Spring Creek (included below) and it looks like they have been neglecting their residents and “working on it” for two years now. 2) Basic television service is included in the cost of their room and theoretically we are paying for it. It has been 2 months since my parents moved in and there is still no TV. I have personally asked the onsite facilities to get their TV working and the response was "We have a bunch of old boxes up stairs I will see if I can get one working, they seem to break down a lot." So they brought a box by that doesn't work. This is unacceptable. 3) They were supposed to get a orientation on how the facility runs where things are etc. That took over a month and it was very brief. I guess if you are looking for a place to put your elderly family I would not suggest Spring creek. The responds to all things wrong is we are working on it. After talking to many of the folks there this has been going on for years and they take advantage of old people who don't have the strength to complain.

Absolutely beautiful community in a great location. My family member can walk to shopping and the community has great walking paths. I was amazed with the staff and how great they were. My mom is relocating to this state and she can't wait to move to this community. I looked at every community in the area and the ones in Ferndale and nothing came close to how beautiful this community was. The apartments are perfect and they have full kitchens so my mom can still cook if she likes. My mom will be moving soon and the staff have made sure that she is already connected with other people that live there. I recommend this place to anyone. I have seen them all and this is #1 in the area.
