Overview of Texas Memory Care
Texas seniors benefit from living in one of the just 17 states across the U.S. that are home to a designated Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Funded by the National Institute on Aging, The Alzheimer’s Disease Center at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center carries out research on the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease. Southwestern Medical Center is also part of the Texas Alzheimer’s Research and Care Consortium. A collaboration between the state’s leading medical research institutions, including Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, the Consortium is a state-funded organization that studies the genetic and biological factors associated with Alzheimer’s in hopes of finding a cure. Texas seniors are encouraged to take advantage of these medical resources by volunteering to be a part of their on-going research studies.
