I love Brookdale Longview. The folks here are very nice and very helpful, and the food is good. I can't think of anything bad to say about it. They offered trips to Walmart and different places to eat, do different things like bus trips and all kinds of stuff like bingo. There are folks that would stop by and sing for us as well. The appearance of the place looks bright and like brand-new although it's not. It's fairly old but looks brand-new. The food is good and I think the value for the money is good. I'm very pleased with the community.
If you care about the person you are seeking a place for, avoid this place. They put on a nice show to sell you on it but it is horrible. Short staffed and no real Assisted Living in my opinion. Roach infested rooms with the stench of urine. Cleaning is not on their priority list. They might empty your trash, but don't wash the trash cans. The toilets are stained as well as the showers. Vacuuming goes around and never under anything, when they vacuum. Residents may have to push their help button multiple times to get help to their room and in some cases call 911 to get help. On the weekends and evenings, there are no staff members to be found. The only true, caring person is Rhonda, in my opinion. I think the health dept and Adult Protective Services need to check on this place regularly. The food is gross and served cold if you are sick and need a meal brought to your room. Jan, the charge nurse, has a bad attitude about everything. The people who work here need training and training and more training. Personal problems should not be shared with residents and who knows how much theft goes on by the employees. It is very sad to think these people will care for your loved one and find out how bad they are. When we moved my parent out, the director didn't even know her name!!!! With 56ish residents, there is no excuse for that. The bus is in poor condition and they still refuse to repair it, even though it has had numerous problems. The AC on it rarely works and the poor girl who drives it is expected to manually crank the lift for each individual. In my opinion they need to shut this place down and find proper homes for our beloved senior citizens. The activities director man is very kind hearted and he tries hard so he is not to blame. I heard the director and business manager on the phone talking about a potential client and the conversation was all about getting the client and their money, avoiding asking questions that might prevent them from getting a room filled. I could go on but I think by now you have already marked them off your list. I hope so.
This facility is an older, stable building. It is kept up well on the outside and inside. It has been updated appropriately as the years have passed. The care is consistently great care, I would feel very comfortable about placing my loved one here. I have never eaten there but I have never heard any complaints about the food service. There activity calendar looks full and has a variety of activities available to the residents. There has been an owner change recently and the company is a very stable company. There are many restaurants, shopping in the immediate area and the two local hospitals are very close by. The pricing is average for the area. I would recommend a tour if this is the area you are looking in for your loved one.
