I thought Colonial Village was a great place. The lady that was helping me, Robin, their sales agent, showed me a couple of places. We could not do more than that because of Covid restrictions. The apartments were great and I would have loved it if my mom could live there, but because of her memory issues, she could not do that. The place was clean and all the residents I saw seemed perfectly happy and in good health. Everybody that work there that I spoke with was really nice and helpful. They were delivering their lunches and so forth to everybody's room and I saw that that operation seemed to be done for a long time. It seemed pretty efficiently done. The place was clean and nice. There's a patio area where they have barbecues and an enclosed lawn for walking the dogs because they allow pets there.

We're very interested with Buckner Westminster, and it's still high on our list of places to stay. It’s mostly run by the Baptists, we're Baptist people, and we like the location of it. We know people that stayed there, and they're happy. We thought the levels of care they had were really important for us. The staff was very nice, and it's very clean.

Colonial Village is clean, but pretty old. The people were very nice, super informative, and helpful. The dining area was nice, but the rooms were very old. They didn't have as many amenities as the newer facilities, but they were very accommodating. They offer quite a few activities compared to the other places we saw. The lady who showed us around was excellent.

We really liked Colonial Village. The staff was very accommodating to take time out of her day to help me, and she gave me a full tour of the facility. I met a lot of the residents and got to see the different rooms that were available. The location was fantastic, and the place was clean and tidy. They’re homey, and the residents were very friendly. My mom would have really enjoyed it if she got to go. They were pet friendly and had a little pet park behind where the residents could walk their animals and it was really clean and tidy. They had a gym and a cute library which was maintained by one of the residents. She was a 90-year-old lady who was adorable and really proud of it. The cafeteria was very clean and smelled wonderful, and they had a chef that came from one of the Cajun restaurants in town. They provide three meals a day, and the price for the residents was very reasonable. The staff was fantastic and went out of their way to help me. The food smelled wonderful and looked really good. They were doing a little bit of construction work to improve and it looked bad, but everything else looked well-maintained and well-built.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I love Brookdale Longview. The folks here are very nice and very helpful, and the food is good. I can't think of anything bad to say about it. They offered trips to Walmart and different places to eat, do different things like bus trips and all kinds of stuff like bingo. There are folks that would stop by and sing for us as well. The appearance of the place looks bright and like brand-new although it's not. It's fairly old but looks brand-new. The food is good and I think the value for the money is good. I'm very pleased with the community.

Colonial Village is part of the Holiday group. The staff members were helpful, courteous, kind, and good. They don't have personal care; you have to have them come in or you go out. The food, especially the dessert, was great. I had a cornish hen, some sides, a piece of pie for dessert, and all-you-can-drink liquid; it was good. However, I have to rate this community a 4 because it wasn't totally great. It is an older place, but the room has a kitchen, and you can cook food in your room without having to go down to eat. The staff members are very nice. They keep you busy.

There are several reasons why we chose Colonial Village. The people are extremely friendly. The place is very clean. It was exactly what we were looking for. Instead of cooks, they have actual chefs that are there to cook our meals. There are a lot of things to do, games to play, and things to see. They take you to different places. It is really a nice community. The food is excellent. When we were there, activities were going on. It was very nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother is in Colonial Village. The food is good and his room is adequate. However, the lease was misleading, and the sales tactics were terrible. They had my brother sign the lease when he has dementia problems, and I'm very unhappy about that. I talked to them and I told them what I needed to do and they changed that, so that they could get a signed lease promptly. They made us sign a lease almost 30 days before he was out of the other place, which we had already paid 30 days notice for. However, the facility is what my brother needs. It's great and the way that they presented it was fine, but the check we had to write was for more than the rent we agreed on. They have a signature for somebody on this lease that I cannot read, and they didn't bother to type it out. I observed people in different areas doing different activities, playing cards, and things like that. The food is excellent and the staff is very good.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother moved out of Hawkins Creek. It was determined he didn't need assisted living. He didn't like the place. He didn't like their food or the staff. The atmosphere was cold between the staff and him. The food was adequate, the staff was mediocre, and the room was cramped. It was adequate, but we got a bigger room at another place for a smaller amount. They have a patio lawn in the middle of a circle. Upon leaving, their attitude toward him and toward me changed. When I visited it, it seemed very nice, it was new, and super clean, and the management was extremely attentive.
