I am/was a resident of this facility

I have been a residence at Attivo Trails independent living in Waukee for 2 half’s years. I love living in The Waukee community. Attivo Trail‘s 55+ active independent living could offer us so much more for the younger generation that is very far and few here. A lot of 55+ are still working and there is no amenities offered for the younger generation in the evening time or weekends. We have asked to have more movies in our theater which they only do one day a week and that is Mondays other than that brand new theater sits empty Tuesday through Sunday all day and all night. Some of us has suggested evening movies or weekend movies we’ve also suggested that we’d like to watch college football or Super Bowl in that theater- which is not allowed. When I toured the place the pool was open till 9 PM when I moved in winter hours the pool is only open till 6 PM so people that work and I’m being The Voice for others including myself , some residents work variety of different hours and would like to relax in the hot tub or the sauna or the pool but everything closes at seven so we can’t get to any of those amenities. This pool is an inside pools and opened every day all year round unless they have issues with the pool. Everywhere around us in all the apartment facility, condos other 55+ places independent living are all open till nine or 10 PM all over the metro area. Which we use to have but taken away, we as residence would like to get our 9 pm back. Specially in the winter that’s when we are able to use the hot tub in the sauna so if the pool closes they lock the doors so we can’t even use the sauna or the hot tub so three amenities are taken out after 7 PM. The last movie that is shown starts at 2 PM so once again the younger generation or anybody that’s working is unable to see movies. The residence also shut off all the lights off in all the community areas that are for family and friends and grandchildren and residence they’re shutting these lights off at six or seven or 8 PM to where they think it’s closed down and or able to use the room. These rooms are all open 24/7. Some of us here feel this is where the office is letting the residence control their building. I do want to say that the maintenance crew have done a pretty great job when I’ve ever needed to use them which is only one and the building itself office and maintenance are so on their free time they will come around to do touchups inside and outside your apartment area I think that’s very gracious for them to do. I think they do an awesome job on the landscaping our courtyard very beautiful and our front area is very beautiful. The Office employees will listen to what you have to say but I’m sure their hands are tied on some of the request that is asked by us residence which anywhere is probably like that. But I will keep trying to be a voice so maybe we can get some evening shuttle bus events, evening and weekend movies. Maybe some college football games in the theater. Just Maybe

Absolutely terrible food; more like prison food. Sometimes it was just a scoop of vegetables and bread rolls; one time it was just a bowl of beets and a cup of fruit for desert. Patient had a serious injury, but it was never documented or reported. My uncle was not bathed very ofen either. For the price, you should look around.

I visited this facility

Beautiful community. Toured about 10:30 and they had exercise classes going on. Seemed like the residents were having fun. I was invited to stay for lunch, which was amazing. Lisa asked me to come back for the Sunday brunch and will do that in the next couple of weeks. I'm just starting my search for "Senior Independent Living" but this community is definitely at the top of my list. Apartments were large and have balconies. Pricing was reasonable when you consider food and utilities are included.

This is an older facility but packed with caring and knowledgeable staff. The care is great and I couldn't ask for a better option for my Mom.
