The best way to get to know a community is by scheduling a tour. See the facilities, meet the staff and residents, and get a feel first hand what it's like to live at Brookdale North Austin Assisted Living.
I have visited and toured Brookdale North Austin. The feel was very good, everybody seemed happy, and very friendly. It was very nice. The rooms were small, but they were adequate. They answered all my questions. I was happy with the tour. I saw this place in the morning, so they were just gathering around the front area, but have no actual activity at that time. They have a nice outside area, a patio, some places to sit. The rooms were adequate, but I have seen bigger and nicer rooms. And I think it is an older facility.
Brookdale North Austin looked OK and I know it has a good reputation, but it didn't have that outside entrance, and it would've been hard for my husband. He still drives, but even if we had to go pick him up, it would be too far of a walk from the room to the outside where the cars are. One of our priorities was mobility, and then the second one was to be close to where three of the kids live. The location would've been fine for us, but the mobility was the issue. I saw the outside and we looked in the window of the unit, but I couldn't go in. The person that showed me around was very nice. It's just on Duval on the main street. It's like a motel, and it's a little bit overpriced.
Brookdale North Austin had an older feel to it. I know a person who lives there, and she has a nice sized room, but it doesn't have any kitchen facility in it. It's just a room with a bathroom. I saw the dining area, but everything looked a little older. It has a really nice outside area with big trees that you can walk around. The facility looked clean.
The outside of this facility looks like a lush green wonderland. Brookdale North Austin has such amazing landscaping it’s hard not to be impressed. There are plenty of walking paths at this facility with cute little shrubs and bushes along the way. There’s even a gazebo surrounded by well-manicured plants. I find the outside of this facility to be a rather strong pro to facility. The landscaping is so nice; it feels very much like green paradise. Inside the facility is quite nice as well. The dining hall is very expansive and open and the tables are far enough apart to give every resident a sense of privacy while they dine. The food options here were quite varied and the menu items looked very good. I had the chicken here and it tasted fairly good. Besides the dining room, the rest of the facility is very nice as well. There are a lot of windows that let in plenty of natural sunlight. All the natural light gives Brookdale North Austin a sunny atmosphere. The building has plenty of great features and plenty of amenities. There was a nice media room with a television and plenty of recreational areas throughout the building for residents to sit and socialize. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and I found the residents to seem quite happy here. Brookdale North Austin isn’t in too bad of an area. Though there aren’t any establishments in walking distance, on HWY 183 are plenty of establishments. There are plenty of places to eat and shop nearby; they just aren’t in immediate proximity. You have to go across the highway to see all the major establishments. Overall, Brookdale North Austin is a cozy facility with plenty of charm. Though its location may not be the most idea, it’s in a genuinely good area. There are also plenty of great activities at this building that are hosted regularly. The event calendar at Brookdale North Austin seems to always remain full. With so many activities, I doubt residents are ever bored. Overall, Brookdale North Austin is a great facility with amazing curb appeal.
