I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My sister was at Madrona Hills. It was a nice and clean place. They had a nice dining room. I didn't have any complaints, but the price was a little bit expensive. Their food wasn't as good as other places. My sister got a studio apartment. The apartment was fine, but it was more money. It was a bit expensive.

Madrona Hills has good food, and the people were great. I saw two different cottages, the first one had steps, and it didn't fit my needs. The second one was being redone, they were repainting, putting the carpet in, and getting it ready, so it was chaotic. The staff was very good. They were having dinner when I visited, and I know they had a Mexican party last week. The people I sat with for dinner were happy to be there, and they liked it very much. The only thing I didn't like about it was the hills, but for somebody that doesn't mind dealing with hills and steps, it would be a five. The food was good.

My mom has been living at Madrona Hills. It's been great. They're very welcoming, they cater to the residents there, make them feel at home, and they have a lot of things to do there. They're very assisting and caring. My mom has a little kitchen area, a fridge, sink, and cupboard storage space, and there's a little living area with a big closet. There's also a big closet/storage/coats closet in the entryway when you walk in, and there's a bathroom. They have a library, exercises classes, walking paths, and barbeques.

Madrona Hills is a very nice and well-kept place. The lunch was good and I liked how close it is to businesses and services. The staff was good at answering questions and introducing me around. All the information I wanted to obtain, I received.

Madrona Hills is very good. Actually, I'm trying to talk my mom right into it. It's very clean and very friendly. They have lots of activities. I am very impressed. The staff who was with me was very nice. We looked at 1-bedroom, 1-bath, and it's good size with good-sized closets.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father was a past resident of Madrona Hills. They're active seniors there. You can essentially die in your room, but all of the care that leads up to that is up to the individual. They do not have people controlling your house or at your beck and call, and they have none of the things that an assisted living facility would have. If there are drugs, you have to handle all that stuff yourself. If you can't afford that, then it's not the place for you. They assume you're active enough so they don't have to knock on your door and check up on you. I really enjoyed the place. We were there for a little over seven years and the only reason we left was because his care far outweighed what he could afford to purchase individually. It was past what they offered and it's not an assisted living community. They do offer food and occasionally they'll bring your food to your room if you're sick, but they're not necessarily there at night. They have buttons, but there's nobody to call to help you if you fall down or something like that. They will help you if it's during daytime, but not if you're in your room and it's at night. It's independent and there are people with walkers, but they're just fine, and many of those people do have people come in. My dad had caregivers come in two hours a day and help him twice a week with showers, his drugs, and medication twice a day, and they would help with PT and exercising, but it was only a couple of hours. We paid them to do that. Nobody is there all the time. He loved it there. The rooms were nice. The people were more active there. The food was good. The staff was great. They're unbelievably helpful and they've all been there for a while. They're really nice. They cook and they clean rooms, but they're not trained to be caregivers in that sense. For what they did, and what they were supposed to do, and what that place was, they were great.

We liked Madrona Hills a lot, and my father is still adjusting after moving in. He likes the food. The residents are happy with the leadership. He's gone to a couple of parties and movies that he was really excited about that. I know that he's played pool at least once. His apartment is well maintained, and the staff is very helpful.

We chose Madrona Hills for my mother because the staff there is very nice. They have all kinds of classes and social get-togethers and they have a library, movies in-house, and they have trips too. They have walking trails that go through the woods that are right there, you would never even know they're in town. They understand that when you're moving, it takes a little while to react to the whole place and they're very accommodating and very good folks.

Madrona Hills is for active people. It's a nice place and they are very nice people. They have activities for the residents and the dining room looks like a restaurant. It's lovely. They're within walking-distance to a bus route. They also have people to help get you where you need to be. I saw a 1-bedroom apartment which was nice. It had a small utility kitchenette, a nice living room, and the bathroom was wheelchair-accessible and usable. It was quite well done. The staff members didn't act like staff. They were engaging and acted like your friend, like somebody you could talk to and also get information and help from.

I Am A Current/Past Resident

I enjoy Madrona Hills. The apartment I have is a nice one-bedroom apartment. It isn’t what I was used to, but no apartment is going to be as large as my house. I enjoy the little get-togethers, chats, and the games that we play. I haven’t been able to take many of them in yet because I am still recovering from knee surgery, but the ones I have been able to do, I have really enjoyed. The dining room is very nice and very clean. The food is good. I like being able to cook my own if I want to, and that’s the only thing I can’t do here. I can’t cook a meal for myself as there isn't a kitchen in my apartment.

I visited Madrona Hills, and I wish I could get my father there. It looked like a really nice place, they were eating, and the food looked good. The staff was really nice, I looked at a studio, and it was very nice. We went downstairs, and there were puzzles being put together.

We are currently at Madrona Hills. We chose it because of the location and the affordability. My son and his family don't live far from here. The meals are OK. They have movie schedules. The staff is very friendly, very helpful, and pay attention to what you're saying. There's only one person that is annoying. They have a number of activities available to the residents. Every Wednesday, there's an excursion that the residents can participate in. Given the location, it seems to offer the most for what you're paying.

I visited this facility

I visited Madrona Hills, but the person who was supposed to take me on the tour wasn't there. The lady that was there behind the desk took me and showed me one of the apartments, but she wasn't available to give me a tour of the whole area. It has independent living apartments nearby, which I wasn't able to see at the time. During that short visit they showed me one of their rooms, but I was more interested in the apartment house, which I was not able to see. It's a separate facility, but it's connected to them. They have a recreation room. I saw their dining room, and it was very nice. I was only able to see the building and not the other apartments, but I was impressed with the community. They invited me to come back.

The receptionist greeted us at the door at Madrona Hills. They showed me two small rooms, but they were very clean. They provide linen, cleaning, meals, and cable TV, but you have to bring your own furniture. I can also have my kitty. We had a wonderful lunch and we each had a selection from a wonderful menu. We were given our choice of different salads and it was outstanding. They take a weekly field trip.

I Visited This Community

Madrona Hills is a wonderful, secluded place with beautiful carpeting and great views. I only met one person, and he was quite kind with me and worked with me quite well. The dining room was very beautiful with independent tables and restaurant-style service. They had a very large exercise area, weights, stair climbers and all kinds of exercise equipment, plus they have a schedule that they put out every day with at least five or six activities going on around the property. It was a wonderful location and a beautiful property.

I visited this facility

We visited Madrona Hills, but they didn't have any rooms to look at. They had much smaller accommodations than other facilities. It was plain looking and didn't have the outside appeal. Their dining room looked fine and was nicely accommodated. They just weren't very large. The staff members that I spoke to were very friendly, very open, and warm. It was nicely styled. It's just the surroundings, the landscaping, and type of atmosphere were not as nice as the other place we saw.
