I am/was a resident of this facility
We moved my mother into Vineyard Heights, which was recommended by another place we visited. We drove over there and they said that they had an opening, and we were able to move her in within five days. She's only been there a little while, but it's amazing. It's very clean, unlike other places for the elderly that we've been to that smell of urine and have an old folk's home smell. The staff is helpful and she has her independence back for the most part. They give her her meds, help her with dressing and bathing, and she is making friends. She's also on the Welcome Committee now. She is doing really well, so it's nice. It's a very positive place and they encourage her to come out of her home and participate in activities. She has been playing the piano for their sing-alongs. They're also affiliated with a family practice group, so a physician comes to them. So if she needs a doctor's appointment, they will come see her rather than her going out. That is huge for me because my mom is prone to falling, and every time she falls she basically breaks something. Every time I called or sent them an email I have gotten a response, they have kept in great contact with me. She had a fall last week and they called me about it and told me that she's now fine. She just needed help getting up, but was not sore. So they just do a good job communicating with the families and addressing their concerns. I'm very happy with where she's at. I would rate the staff a four, but that's only because I think there could be more staff members. But I don't think it's the staff's fault, and I think they're incredible. Maybe they're different when I'm not there, I don't know, but they've always addressed things. I kind of fell once there, and they came and told me that I needed to get checked out. I told them not to worry about me and it just happened that I tripped and fell. They're really good, I can just talk to them about her medication. I took my mom out of town for a family event and it was great. They packed her stuff and her medication. They packed the meds for each separate day, like here's her 8:00 a.m. one and here's her 8:00 p.m. one. So they were very diligent in making sure that she had the medication that she needed. It made me easy to take my mom out for the weekend. That was our first time and she did very well. I'm not a big fan of the food that I see there, but that doesn't make it bad food. It's just that when you cook for all the people, it's just not like a five-star restaurant, but the food seems fine. The only thing I wish they had was a pool for therapy. They have the cutest gathering place which looks like an old-fashioned 50's diner, and they have ice cream socials there. They also have another game area where they play games, a movie area, and there's an area with a piano where they sing and stuff. My mom doesn't smoke, but they also have an area outside of the building where people can go out to the back, and there's plenty of seating like picnic benches and things like that out on the grounds. When the weather is nice, it's beautiful out there. They have activities going every day several times a day, and they have church on Sundays. I think it's just a really great place. In terms of the cost, it's not free, but it doesn't cost as much as it should.

I visited this facility
I saw one of the studio apartments in Vineyard Heights and it was nice. The employees that I dealt with were professional and very nice. It was really comparable to another place I visited, although this one is smaller. They also have plenty of amenities, like they have a bus to take people shopping or to church and places like that. They have an activities room, they don't have a pool, but they do movies and they have game nights. Their facilities were very nice.
