Holiday Sheldon Oaks

Sheldon Oaks was more independent living and it's an amazing facility. The personnel were extremely amiable, gave me a wonderful tour, and great explanations of what services they could offer. At that point, they did not fit our needs, but they really impressed me with the kind of facility that they were, as well as the personnel that I met. The rooms were small, but clean, and very pleasant. They have lovely places for games, like a billiards room, a library, and lovely sitting areas outside the residents' rooms. I met the cook who said that they don’t only do the menus, but they like to hear what the residents like to eat, and if they have recipes they’ll try them. The cook was amazing.

Sheldon Oaks was very good. If I decide to move that's where I'll go. It's very nice and within my budget, so that should be great. I saw three apartments and they look like my idea of where I would like to live, and the view was good. They have lots if activities, which right now I can do. The staff member who showed me around was very nice, helpful, and answered all my questions. It was a good visit.

I have a relative who lives in Sheldon Oaks. The lady at the desk suggested I go in and have lunch so that I could visit after their manager was back. Their salads and other entrees looked good, and you have a choice of three things. It was a nice and pet-friendly place. They have apartments on the ground floor with an outside door, which is great because I have a little dog. Plus, the price is the best one in the area. They have activities. For example, they have foot care, I saw them play a game where they throw a ball, and I saw their exercise class in one of the little rooms there, and I thought it was excellent. The only disadvantage I see personally is their rigid meal schedule. But that happens to be how the place operates, and they do a good job of it. Some of the apartments don't have kitchens, and the residents who are getting three meals a day have kitchens.

We chose Sheldon Oaks because the particular apartment that I have is bigger than most of the ones I saw, and it's in an area where I can walk and have access to Safeway, the drugstore, the beauty shop and McDonald's. I lived in this community before so I know where everything is and I like that. It's only been two days but it's been good so far. The staff is great. Everything is good. It looks like there's plenty to do. They have exercise and bus trips to the store, festivals, and today they're going to a farm to pick pumpkins. They have bingo, poker, music that comes in and plays before lunch, and three meals a day. They have a bus, and from here, it's not a very long walk to get to the bus stop for public transportation.

Visitor

Sheldon Oaks was beautiful and my mother's favorite place. They were creative and had dancing, pinochle, and exercise classes. The best thing about that place is it was close. The people could walk to the bank and a nearby grocery store. They showed us the laundry room, where you could do your own laundry. They had vans that would take you anywhere you wanted to go at anytime. The staff was very accommodating. The food wasn't that great, though.

Visitor

I thought Sheldon Oaks was beautiful, but they did not take Medicaid, which was why I did not end up there. The staff that toured me around was wonderful, very thorough, and nice. They did not rush us. I had lunch there, and it was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent and served and presented nicely.
