I visited this facilityReview of The Village at Penfield

I visited here. The staff members were extremely helpful. They were polite and they made me feel as welcome as possible. I had an overall good impression. When we went there it was lunchtime and everybody was in the dining room having lunch. One of the things that took them off my list is that I needed a place with a kitchen, and they didn't have a kitchen. Nevertheless, their food was excellent.

I was not impressed with Grande'Vie (Legacy at Grande'Vie) when I was walking in, and I knew my sister wouldn't go there. I was not impressed with the dining room. The staff was very nice. The location was OK.

I visited this facilityReview of The Village at Penfield

It was very nice and had very nice grounds. The people were walking around and enjoying the surroundings. There were activities going on and everybody seemed quite happy. I was getting lost in the hallways and this very pleasant man helped me. The gardens were well-kept and everything was clean. The restroom was clean. It's very easy to walk the grounds because there were no stairs. They keep track of you with a device in case you don't come back. They do arts and crafts, they have a music room, and more than one TV room. They were doing chair exercises and they have a calendar of activities so you can see what's going on at different times of the day and in different areas of the place. I liked that it was shaped like a squared off O so if you keep walking, you'd eventually get back to the beginning. The person who toured me was very knowledgeable and kind.

My grandma moved here. When I went on the tour, every worker knew all the residents' names, everybody was very welcoming, and I didn't feel forced. I loved all the workers, and the residents were really friendly. It's amazing. My grandma loves it there. She's always out doing something, and I have to track her down. There's always a group of women doing puzzles in the lobby area, but they have bingo, and special holidays, like National Chip Day. For National Donut Day, they brought in food and had a taste testing. For the solar eclipse, they had moon cookies and were handing them out while watching the eclipse. They're very creative. The staff is trying really hard, very helpful, and make sure the residents are engaged. The food is delicious, and they make everything from scratch. Once a week they'll come in and clean her room and do her laundry for her, and it's a nice cleaning. They have a shuttle for doctors' appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays.
