Description of Laketown Village

Laketown Village is located in Kenner, LA, blocks from Lake Pontchartrain and the Kenner City Park Pavilion recreation center. In this homelike residence, seniors receive assistance with activities of daily living, transportation services and housekeeping. To help residents stay engaged and connected to one another, their personal interests and the greater community, a full-time activity director facilitates group fitness classes, social events and fun outings to nearby attractions. Residents can also form and join groups, such as bible study and book clubs.

Within the building, residents can convene over delicious meals in the shared dining hall or invite family members to attend special dinners in the private dining room. The staff is able to accommodate residents' special needs by preparing meals designed for diabetic, low-salt and vegetarian diets. Outside, a large garden patio is surrounded by manicured plants and filled with shady tables and a trickling fountain.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We chose Laketown Village for my father because they had a vacant room right next to the dining room. You only have to walk about eight feet, which is a benefit for him because he can barely walk. They have an on-site retired chef, so they have great food. They were very friendly and cooperative during the visit. My father integrated right away in the first week, and he started doing their fun activities. They go out in the afternoons, they took them out for lunch, and he's been to bingo. It's very low cost.

My dad has been in Brookdale Kenner for a week. They've been wonderful and very helpful. I would recommend them. The director is wonderful, and my dad is enjoying it there.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Kenner was beautiful, well-kept, really nicely decorated, and immaculate. The people were wonderful. My mother is a stickler for gardening and curb appeal, and it’s such a shame that Brookdale doesn’t have any curb appeal. When you walk in it, it was so beautifully done, but the outside looks so run-down. It looks like they have a lot of nice activities. The people that were staying there seemed very happy.

I visited this facility

My father is in Brookdale Kenner. The place is open and airy. It does not feel like a nursing home. It is more of an assisted living. He has plenty of room for what he needs. They take him to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So, he is well fed. He wears a panic button in case he falls. The people working there are very nice. I have no problem with the people who takes care of pop. They have a really nice grounds and a really nice courtyard garden for their residents. They have plenty of activities if they want to partake in them. Pop is well looked after.

I visited this facility

We liked Brookdale Kenner. We were very impressed with the lady who sat with us and took us around. The cost was comparable, and it offered a few other extras like the nurse and someone being there round the clock. The rooms were nice, but the shape was very different. They used more square footage for the bathroom because of people in wheelchairs, so it took away some of the living area, but it was OK, and we were satisfied with it.

My wife has been living in Brookdale for a year and a half. It's kept relatively clean. They have various music groups come in and play brain games. They serve three meals a day, but they need to improve the meals and the assistance there. They are definitely lacking in staff. They have a van for doctors' appointments.
