My father is in Sterling Estates of East Cobb. They have a great staff, and the facility is better than any I had seen. It's very clean, and they have a good nursing director. The grounds are excellent. They have water aerobics, men's club, outings, and transportation. He loves the food. They have a new chef, and he eats anything. It's the most expensive in the area. That place is definitely catering to upper middle class clientele. Their medical billing needs to be improved.
Sterling Estates is a beautiful, well-maintained facility in a very nice part of town that easy to get to. The caregivers were pleasant, and the rooms were lovely, very clean, and well maintained. There was an art class, and people were using the gym.
Sterling Estates of West Cobb was our favorite. They were very nice, and we liked the facility, especially the beautiful independent living apartments. They're two stories, so they had an apartment on the second level and another on the first level. The one up on the second level with an elevator would be terrific, but the cost was very high. They want $150,000 to buy in, and then you pay $5,650 a month, which is subject to a 3% increase annually, so pretty quickly you're going to pay over $6,000 a month and what you get for that isn’t worth it. You get 30 meals per person and access to their indoor pool and programs. The average age was 79 to 80, and we're about 10 years younger than that, so it wasn't quite right for us. The people were terrific and very nice. The facilities were beautiful.
Shame on you Senior Homes.com! I wrote a review that tells the truth about this facility, and you have chosen not to publish it! So, I am writing another one that is shorter. This facility has an owner that calls residents names and is condescending and disrespectful. The food is substandard. The chef told the residents that he is not allowed to use butter or salt. Another employee told residents that the use of butter is against state law. The room we occupy is only 476 square feet. There is no oven, no dishwasher, a small bar sink, and barely enough room to turn around. According to state law, residents are supposed to be able to form and run a "residents' council" without the presence of management. But ours is run by a staff member who also wrote the bylaws. My husband and I don't dare speak up to make suggestions. Any negative comment is squashed. We have been told by one of the owners that he has asked people who are not "happy" to leave. Our advice is to check out the competition. There are lots of new facilities that are being built.
