Assisted living is a long-term care setting in which residents receive housing, caregiver support and health care services on a daily basis, as needed. This living arrangement maximizes resident dignity, privacy and autonomy, much like independent living settings, and is designed for those who need some assistance with activities of daily living, but do not require 24-hour skilled nursing care.
Amenities offered in assisted living typically include 24-hour security, accessible campuses, community dining, housekeeping services, transportation, exercise and wellness programs, coordinated activities and social events. Care services include staff well-being checks, medication management, therapeutic services such as physical therapy, and assistance with eating, bathing, dressing and other activities of daily living.
Every senior living resident has individual needs, and those living with dementia often need different kinds of help at different stages. Typically, senior living communities offer traditional assisted living services, as well as care for people with advanced-stage dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Traditionally, there has been a care gap for those with mild-to-moderate memory impairment.

We went to Elmcroft of Milford Chase. It was nice, a little bit isolated, and in an almost rural area, but it had good facilities. Some of the rooms were 2-bedrooms, and that was nice. I liked it. It has beautiful outdoor areas where you can sit out in good weather, and I was impressed with the manager, she took me through, and showed me everything.
My parents have been in Elmcroft of Milford Chase for about a year now. It isn't everything that we thought we are getting, but my parents are happy there in a one-bedroom unit. They get three meals a day. My father is in the wheelchair now, so he stays in the main room, and my mother uses the bed in the bedroom. It is a nice unit with a nice bathroom. The facility looks nice and has some things to entertain my parents, like activities and different things throughout the day or month. The entrance is very nice. They have some nice rocking chairs outside, and it is quiet there. They have a library and physical therapy on staff. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. In the year that my parents have been there, I think the majority of the staff is still the same. It has very good pricing.
Elmcroft of Milford Chase would have been our first choice. It was very clean and didn't have an odor. The staff was very friendly and looked like they worked well with the residents. The menu looked like a place I would want to go for lunch or dinner. The dining room was wonderful, like fine dining. The grounds were nicely taken care of.
Elmcroft of Milford Chase was a very nice, clean environment without any odors. They had something similar to a Make-a-Wish Foundation wall that I thought was neat. They picked some of the patients to fulfill their wish or dream, and then they publish it so then everybody can see it. That left these people with the feeling that they're not forgotten. I like what I saw. The place was in very good condition. It looked friendly and not like a commercial place. It had a hominess to it that I think is very important for assisted living people. The dining area was very nice. They had a room where they could go in and play dress up.
