I visited this facility
I went to Grand Villa of Lakeland and it's very nice. It's a hotel that was converted into assisted living. If you have a one-bedroom, you have two doors going into the one-bedroom, because it used to be two units. The dining area seemed OK. They were having a birthday party, it was clean, and the residents seemed fine. They have a parking lot.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
I have a friend that lives at Grand Villa. The staff is great. Their food is very good; however, sometimes the hallways smell a little bit. The room is very nice. They have craft lessons and movies. They do not have a pool, but they have an activity room where they do things. They don't have as many trips, but their fees are not as high either.

I visited this facility
Grand Villa of Lakeland was great, and we liked it. It felt like it's a more lively and homier community. They had a lot of activities going on. Everyone's very friendly. We feel that you have a lot to do and that it would be a good community. I liked the fact that they had a nurse on staff all the time, and a portable x-ray machine so they can do it right there. They have a lab facility on-site so they can draw blood, and take them to doctor's appointments, which is a big plus in my book.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
Grand Villa of Lakeland was high class and expensive, and I felt comfortable when I first went in. I thought it was a good place, but after I saw what they did to my friend, I would not recommend that place at all. They put their residents in the TV room all day, so they could watch them all in one place. My friend was brought to the hospital because he had very bad pneumonia while he was there. We went to get his stuff after two weeks; his dirty clothes were all in a bag in the laundry room and his bed was stripped off even though they didn't know if he was coming back or not. The place looked nice, and I was very impressed the first time I saw it. The assisted living part might be OK, but the memory care part was not. They made me purchase a bracelet for my friend, so they could track him if he gets out. It's a locked down place, and the security was very tight, so nobody has ever gone out of the place. I think that bracelet should be optional. They had a nutritionist, and I was glad they gave him good food to eat.

Part of the Memory Care program is to make sure our residents have a well rounded quality of life at our community. Our Memory Care residents enjoy socializing with each other in the living areas which are equipped with a large TV, life stations and lounge seating. Community favorites are bowling, relay races, Jeopardy, and current events. Additionally we have a lot of scheduled activities outside of the community. We are proud to offer the Safety Net bracelet which provides security and comfort to our residents, family and staff. During the short stay at the community we reached out to the responsible party to discuss the resident’s condition and identified there was a previous medical diagnosis that had not completely resolved. The facility immediately assisted the resident to a higher level of care to address this matter. Please feel free to reach out to me directly so that I can address any further concerns you may have.
