Senior citizens who receive the federal Supplemental Security Income benefit may be eligible for an additional payment from the state. The amount of the benefit depends on the recipient&rsquo;s living situation and current income. Some individuals may receive as much as $423.37 per month, while married couples may receive double that amount in some cases.&nbsp; 
 
All senior citizens who are Medicaid eligible are qualified to receive the SSP. To apply or learn more, seniors can call the<a href="https://www.ssa.gov/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"> LA County Social Security Administration</a>&nbsp;office at (800) 772-1213. 
 
Veterans Aid and Attendance Pension Benefit 
 
The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benefits.va.gov/pension/aid_attendance_housebound.asp" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Aid and Attendance benefit</a>&nbsp;is available to veterans who actively served during a wartime period and their living spouses. Assisted Living Waiver 
 
Low-income senior citizens or disabled persons who require care in an assisted living facility may qualify to have the cost of their care covered under the <a href="https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/ltc/Pages/Assisted-Living-Waiver%20Program---Medi-Cal%20Member%20Enrollment.aspx" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Assisted Living waiver</a>. In addition to the cost of assisted living care, this waiver also covers other services, such as&nbsp;care coordination and transitional services for those who are moving from a nursing home into an assisted living facility. Unfortunately, the waiver doesn&rsquo;t cover the cost of room and board.&nbsp; 
 
To qualify for the Assisted Living waiver, seniors must require assistance with at least two activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, eating or toileting. Additionally, applicants must be financially eligible for Medi-Cal.&nbsp;
