We went to Grossmont Gardens. The people were nice, and the facilities were nice, but their apartments were disgusting and depressing. All the common rooms were very nice, but we didn't like it because of the apartments. The place was certainly very clean. The staff seemed very nice and very accommodating, but all I met was the sales people. I was not impressed with the building, but the garden was lovely.
I liked the upbeat energy at Grossmont Garden. The restaurant and the rooms seemed really nice. You have a backdoor and a front door which is good for escapes of any kind. The living room is average. They have one or two 1-bedrooms, and the 1-bedrooms are pretty small. I understand that the next room up is a lot bigger, but I haven't seen that one yet. They have a riding class, and I ride, so that would be of interest to me. It seemed clean, and there weren't any senior smells. Just looking around, it looked clean. Our time was limited, but I'm planning to go back and check it out again. The staff was very friendly, the food was not that good, and the day we went, it was kind of dried out, and not that tasty, but the services were good. I was disappointed in that. It was not as nice, not as private, or as good as the others, but for my needs, I liked Grossmont Gardens the best.
My visit to Grossmont Gardens was fine. I went there a couple of times. Everything was fine. The rooms were not spacious but were not small either. It seemed like they could be comfortable. I have a couple of friends who live there, so that helps a lot. I like the location; it is good for me. The staff that helped us tour around the place was very good. It was a good experience.
I went to Grossmont Gardens, I have a friend who lives there, and I was interested in seeing it. They have independent living in one building, and when you need assisted living, you go to a different place, which means you go to a different group of people, and have to change rooms. I didnt want to do that. The food was OK, but it didnt feel as comfortable to me. They have a pool, they have a library, and I think they have water aerobics in the pool.
I toured Grossmont Gardens, and I liked that everybody had their own rooms and didnt have to share. That was a huge plus. The staff member was great, and she was really nice, she gets five stars. What I didnt like was that they didnt have their own shower; there was just one huge shower on every floor. We were there during lunchtime, they were eating when I was there, and I didnt see any activities.
We liked Grossmont Gardens, but it would be a little difficult to get to public transport. The rooms were gorgeous and had little kitchenettes. The place was beautiful and had beautiful paved walkways through the premises to go with your walker or wheelchair. My mother isn't the physical type and the activities weren't the kind that would stimulate her intellect. The maintenance is a little so-so. The workers were absolutely helpful and friendly. I talked to the residents, and they were very happy, one woman I talked to had lived there for 10 years. She said what she liked best is that she has no responsibility there, she's just enjoying life. The budget would also allow for my mother's increased needs.
Grossmont Gardens seems to have a lot of people who are a whole lot older than us so it doesn't seem like a place that we would fit in, but they were very nice to us. They took us around, told us about everything, and showed us everything. The rooms are very small. I guess the place was alright since it seemed clean and nice enough.
My mother stayed In Grossmont Gardens for respite care, and she did not get the best care there. There weren't enough employees to take care of her. We were very disappointed. It took a very long time for someone to come if she needed help. She was there for two weeks and did not get a shower during the time. When they finally took her to a shower, it was at 10:00 p.m. She had to pay extra, but she did not get any extra care.

Grossmont Gardens was terribly expensive, and it was further. It has all levels, and it's a big place. It just didn't seem like it was going to work for what I needed. It’s on a side of a hill, so it's not level. They had an RN on staff, and the people there greeted me.
Thank you for your feedback. We strive to improve our community everyday. Our rates are based on what level of care each resident needs. We are sad to hear you chose to go a different direction.
Grossmont Gardens was good, clean, had nice staff and seemed to be a nice place. They had a library but didn't have a pool.
Grossmont Gardens is older senior citizen living. The people were nice. The facility looked tidy. The room was sufficient and nice. The staff seemed nice, too. They had some activities in one room, and the dining room was excellent. The dining area looked nice, but I didn’t look at the food.
We were not pleased with the appearance of Grossmont Gardens Health Center. It was very drab, so it could have been perked up. I don’t believe they had that much assistance. There weren’t that many skilled nurses on duty at one time. I wasn’t particularly happy with the place. The day-to-day staff was excellent, although they were very overwhelmed with all that they had to do. Very often, some things can’t get done, like the wastebaskets weren’t emptied. My father-in-law was left to eat by himself in his bed and was having a hard time doing that. He could have easily choked. The food was fine. He was on a pureed diet, and they tried to do a good job with that. He was incapable of any activities other than being pushed in a wheelchair. They need to perk up the place, paint it, and make it look a little more presentable and happier, and get more staff so that the patients aren’t left alone so much and have more assistance in feeding when they need it, not just to be left alone in their bedrooms to eat by themselves.
Grossmont Gardens is a comfortable facility located near Lake Murray and Lake Murray Park which is a great place to relax and enjoy he outdoors. This facility has a very nice pool area that’s large enough to accommodate many residents at once. There are also good sitting areas near the pool and around the property. Grossmont Gardens isn’t the most modern facility, but it’s nice considering its age. The facility is pretty clean and well maintained. This is a large facility that houses both independent and assisted living residents, and the facility is suited well for both because the admission staff develop care plans that are tailored to the needs of the residents. The facility also has a variety of activities that appeal to various personalities and diverse backgrounds. I would choose this facility for the quality care, friendly staff, and quiet community.
Some of the best and nicest people live and work at Grossmont Gardens. From all indicators, the staff really watches out for their resident's. Based on my visits to Grossmont Gardens, the resident's appear happy, well adjusted, and pleased to be there. It is not a fancy or modern community. It is located in a nice residential area of East San Diego called La Mesa. Close to San Diego State University. It is part of the Elmcroft chain of senior communities. One of the great things about Grossmont is their desire to grant fabulous dream wishes to the resident's.
