Glenwood Gardens is the premiere independent, assisted living and memory care community of the Bakersfield area. Our luxurious features and top quality service create a relaxing and enjoyable environment for our residents. Whether enjoying a specially tailored meal in our elegant dining room by one of our chefs, or enjoying a dip in the private community pool or spa, our residents receive the best there is to offer.
Community Features
We provide several options to stay healthy and active. Our exercise and wellness programs are specially tailored to meet our residents' preferences and needs. Residents socialize with friends in our community room, or enjoy a cold sweet treat from our ice cream parlor. Our library provides a wide variety of reading material to enjoy, as well as computers with convenient internet access. A private dining room for special events or visiting guests is available at the request of residents.

We provide residents with a wide variety of suites to choose from. Our floor plans include studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. I visited this facility
Brookdale Riverwalk was incredibly clean. The residents looked well kept and clean. The rooms were large and well kept. The staff we met was very friendly and very helpful. If we had to pick a place, that would probably be it. The lady we talked to was very nice and professional. I would highly recommend it.

I visited this facility
Brookdale Riverwalk (Formerly Glenwood Gardens) is exceptional. They've got great programs. It's a wonderful place and it's very clean. The staff is awesome. We saw at least three rooms and we liked the fact that they had a more complete kitchen than other facilities. The rooms were a little on the small side, but I think they're going to be more than fine for my father.

Brookdale Riverwalk was very nice and the staff was very pleasant and informative. The rooms were nice and had patios. They had a courtyard area for everybody, a salon, an exercise room, and housekeeping.

I visited this facility
Brookdale Riverwalk was very nice, but there were too many people for my sister. She needs something smaller and more familiar. They were expensive, too, because they start at about $3,000 and help with medication was another $700. They showed me the activity room. The studio apartments were nice, but I would have to get furniture on top of what I would have to pay. The lady that I talked to was very nice and very knowledgeable. It's nice and clean. They had flowers, a library, a pool, and places for people to sit.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
I visit here many times and find it difficult to get to the person I am visiting. The parking for a handicapped person such as myself is horrific and there is usually nowhere to park without an uncomfortable walk. To get to a room is another story. I've had to start bringing a walker to be able to sit half way to the room. I visited a few years ago and found the same problems. I have instructed my family to not put me there, as anyone wanting to visit has a long walk ahead of them. I have friends int the nursing home on Westwold and it is so convenient to park and walk in with no problems nor need for canes/walkers.
