I'm living at Brookdale Central Paradise Valley and I like it. The food and staff are really good. They have a lot of activities like Wii bowling, poker, happy hour every Friday, and a lot of entertainment just about every day. They have two vehicles to take us to doctors' appointments and shopping. The building is pretty good. The only complaint I have is that the water is awfully slow in my apartment.
A large property that gives those who call it home ample space to not feel crowded, yet the atmosphere and the staff ensure that no one will feel alone or left out. It may be an older property, but its recent remodel gives it an elegant and upscale look befitting its Paradise Valley location. The food is excellent, the staff is always friendly, and most importantly the residents are happy and well taken care of. The apartments are a little small and the driveway and parking area is always a little nerve racking with the need to make a sharp right immediately as you enter the property and then down a steep hill full of other vehicles, delivery trucks and buses, complete with a stop sign at the top of the hill to make your exit even more thrilling. However, I think the good certainly outweighs the bad. Generally home to mostly higher functioning Independent seniors, there is the ability to add services and if the need arises you can bring on their in house home care, all for extra fees of course. It is located just a little ways from the Paradise Valley Mall, the Public Library, and all of the eating and shopping in the area, and there are activities and outings going on all the time to keep the residents busy and active.
This community offers Assisted and Independent Living. The way it is set up reminds me of an apartment complex which I think helps the residents feel that much more independent. The lobby is gorgeous with open ceilings – it feels so open and airy, like a breath of fresh air. There are ceiling fans everywhere which is ideal for hot summer days. There are lots of common areas for the residents to roam offering a variety of services and activities. There are many places for residents and loved ones to visit both indoors and outdoors – they have a nice outdoor gazebo with a ceiling fan, a lovely courtyard, walking paths, and a beautiful koi pond that the residents enjoy showing off to their grandkids and great-grandkids. Indoors, there are many sitting areas, an activity room with a piano and TV, tables to play games and make crafts, a computer room with 4 or 5 computers and another flat screen TV on the wall. There is also a great little fitness center. They offer 2 types of studios and 1 bedrooms – all are well designed and spacious. The larger studios contain kitchenettes, while the 1 bedrooms actually have a full kitchen, which is incredibly rare in senior living homes, but gives the more independent residents the ability to cook at home instead of going to the dining hall for meals. The large studios and 1 bedrooms also have patio doors. Brookdale Central Paradise Valley is a great community, particularly for those who are fairly independent.
