I Visited This Community
Facility: I knew this facility both as Sterling House of Chandler and now as Brookdale Chandler Ray Road and the conclusion I have come to is that this community can go by any name and it will remain wonderful. The facility is very cozy and intimately designed. The entrance is beautiful, offering an inviting front porch area with comfy outdoor furniture. The building itself is lined with gorgeous rock and standing out front, the facility looks more like a large home than a senior living facility. It has all od the amazing services/amenities/activities/options of a large Brookdale community packed into a smaller home-like setting which is really the best of both worlds as far as senior living communities go. When you walk in the facility looks much larger then what you might imagine after seeing the front of the building, however, the community offers the perfect amount of space, I think, in that it is large enough for the residents to roam but not so large that a resident has to walk a mile just to get to the dining hall. The common areas are so cozy and intimate, just beckoning conversation and relaxation. Residents: The residents, for the most part, really seem to love their home. I spoke with one resident who had moved in 2 weeks prior to this visit and he told me that from day one the staff went out of the their way to help him feel at home. He said that they helped him make his apartment the way he wanted it and that they really seemed to care about him, asking him about his likes/dislikes, hobbies, favorite things, his typical daily routine, etc. He said that the staff members go out of their way to make him and every resident feel like they matter. Activities: Anything goes! Resident requests for activities, outings, etc. are accommodated as much as possible. The activity schedule is really based on the type of activities and entertainment that the residents truly enjoy.
