Regency Retirement Village has provided care for several of our loved ones over the past 4 years. The Management and Staff personnel have consistently demonstrated their sincere interest in the well being and daily satisfaction of both their residents and the resident's families. My wife and I would enthusiastically encourage an interested family to tour the Regency Birmingham facility, to talk to the residents, and select Regency as your loved one's new home.

We placed my aunt in Regency Retirement Village. It was a much smaller place, with smaller staff members, and they’ve been very accommodating. It was more home-like with smaller groups. It has multiple floors but the assisted living facility was downstairs. It fit well, it was in the right location, and she liked it very much. They have a kitchen staff that’s been with them for a number of years, they’re well established, and they even refer to the head cook or chef there. He’s a very good cook, and he accomodates any guest that may be visiting the people that live there. The food is very good. They have outings, transportation, she has her primary care PA come by every other week, and he’s just right down the street. It’s just like everything’s right there in a fairly secure area in lakeshore. She’s happy to be there.

Regency Retirement Village was a perfect place. I wish my cousin could have gone there, but it was way beyond his means. It was neat, clean, and in great condition. It was also in a great location. They have many activities. The staff was friendly. We met one of the activity personnel and she was very informative. The person who showed us around was very informative. She introduced us to the director of the whole place. She showed us a lot of different options. The rooms were fabulous. The place itself was right beside the church, which would have been awesome for him. It was one of those places that has so many activities during the day. I mean, you couldn't get bored. The people who lived there seemed to know each other well and had established some friendships among each other. It has everything that you would need.

Regency Retirement Village - Birmingham is great, but it's really the caregivers that matter and they are wonderful. I like the food, and I eat with my parents fairly often, but they don't like the food. They're country people who want more vegetables and less casseroles and fancy cooking. They just want beans, peas, potatoes and cornbread. Hospice started last week because mom is on a decline. She lives in the same apartment with my stepdad, who has Parkinson's. It's a tough situation, and we're going to try to keep them together as long as we can. The staff is great. It's a good value. She moved in there five years ago.
