Port Orchard was a very nice place, clean, but a little bit too big for my mom. It was a little out of her price range. The room was very nice, and the staff was very helpful.
Park Vista was the one that really appealed to me. The rooms were nice but too expensive. The staff was very nice, very polite, very courteous, and very thorough. They tried to help in any way that they possibly could. They told me about the people who might be able to help me with financial support. It was comfortable, and the people were very friendly.
I moved there to stay independent. I ended up losing a lot of Independence. I was so embarrassed to admit it was a mistake that it took a long time to get the courage to move out. I was treated very rudely when I tried to talk to management. A few great staff people, but frequent turnover. I ended up staying in my apartment most days.
Badly managed. I have a friend living here, and I wish she would move! The only way she could get a toilet appropriate for a senior was (seriously) to buy it herself. The toilet was so low she couldn't safely get on and off of it, and there are no grab bars within reach of it. Her refrigerator broke a week after she moved in and they gave her a mini fridge instead, with no useable freezer. The place is badly under-staffed. Doors are not kept unlocked as promised. She is paying about $1500 for this treatment, and the apartment really isn't that nice. Avoid it if you can!
Constant staff turnover. Management just won't listen to the people who live there or who work there. Management won't even do something as simple as a weekly schedule of activities. Despite paying over $4,000 a month, management insisted the schedule is printed only their way. My parents have had enough and so have I.
under staffed. Staff poorly trained, if at all. Very frequent change of management. Management fails to listen and act on requests of the residents. Food often cold, frequently unappetizing, occasionally inedible. Not allowed to have pitcher of water on the table, staff to get you water at lunch. With staffing so short, rarely get water unless you get up and get it yourself. Often out of dishes, spoons, glasses. Building looks nice but there are many problems. Have lived here only a couple months and can't wait to move out.
There are little to no activities in the memory care unit. The food is rarely warm and the residents always complain about that, yet nothing is done about it. Walking in the memory care center is like going into an abandoned building since there are no activities. CNA's provide excellent care though.
Caregivers are nice and friendly. They are so under staffed and working them to the max. Food is okay. The price to live there is outrages considering the residents are charged for every little thing and the caregivers don't receive that pay when their the ones doing it. Management is a joke. They take your time and money
