We visited the independent living of Peninsula. The rooms and hallways were spacious. We also saw the dining room and activity room, and the overall area of the community was very clean. They said they offer three meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The room has its own amenity like the microwave, but there's no stove or oven. There weren't a lot of people around during our visit. There were a couple of folks sitting in the kitchen area. It's a pretty quiet and very serene location. The interaction that we had with the staff was good.

My grandfather is really liking Peninsula. He just lives in a studio, so it's small but it provides everything that he needs. It's an all-inclusive living, so they have all their meals provided and they have activities going basically all day long. The staff is good and very friendly. It's clean and it's a nice facility.

Peninsula is beautiful, but it doesn't fit my needs. The apartment is too small. I need a stove and a microwave. The staff members are very helpful and very nice. They have a beautiful dining area, but it is not quite what I'm looking for.

My mother has been living in Peninsula for several weeks now, and she's enjoying it. We find it very pleasant, well-run with lots of activities, and the environment is very pleasing. There's no problem with variety of the food; they have options with every meal. Other residents complain about the food but my mother doesn't have a problem with it. I have eaten there several times, and I think the food is good. They offer small and large portions, which is a great idea. They have takeaway containers, and my mom eats every four hours so she can get the normal-sized serving. Within a month's time, the staff can already tell what kind of food she eats, what coffee she drinks, and know her name. The place is clean, bright, and light, very open and spacious. They have activities every day in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

Peninsula is a very nice, clean and well-run facility. It has very pleasant people. The staff is very helpful and answered most of my questions. The dining area looks very nice. They have quite a range of activities both inside and outside the facility.

Peninsula was nice and neat. However, it was a little small, and the studio rooms were a little tight. They didn't think it was going to work for me, and they acted like they didn't know I was coming.

Peninsula was beautiful and very nice. It’s colorful and has outdoor parking. It's mostly apartments, but we want to have a cottage or home. The staff is very nice. The facility looked just fine, but the apartments were too small for us. It is certainly nice, though. The community is just gorgeous. They had a meeting room and a place where people play cards and games.

I Am A Current/Past Resident

I moved my elderly parents into the Holiday Peninsula in Gig Harbor and at first the staff was very pleasant until after they got us to sign up. I walk in to see my parents and none of the front office gives you the time of day. After about 6 months my parents and other residents were complaining about the food. It was brought to managements attention but no changes were made. I started noticing the cleaning we paid for to clean my parents apartment was not that good. It looked like just a spot clean. After a year I moved my parents to another facilities. I went to turn in the keys and to get their last bit of mail and to my surprise they already had moved someone in (parents keys still fit the lock) and the new resident's name was on the door and the mailbox. I spoke with the front desk and they said there is nothing they could do. So my parents were paying for someone to move in on my parents dime. Now that I have moved my parents to a different facility that is so much better regarding staff, food and cleaning, I realized how bad things were at Peninsula. Also, Peninsula will approach new residents after about 6 months to pay an additional 1 months rent to avoid any rate increases. That is another money maker for the the Holiday company. I'm so glad my parents did not agree to it. It would of been money down the drain. I found out talking with other residents that they were not happy there as well. Also, some of the previous staff said it was the worse place to work. I feel that some elderly don't have a voice and just have to accept the way way things are. I'm so happy that my parents are now in a place where the staff genuinely care and it's not just a job to them but a family.
