We already found a place for my father-in-law. It's Broadmoor Medical Lodge. We visited from the outside. Honestly, it hasn't been great. They're taking care of him pretty well as far as we know, but because we can't go in there, the communication has been very minimal. Any time we need to talk to them, we have to call them to get any information, and then sometimes it is hard to get them on the phone. My father-in-law talks to my husband at least once a day. They talk daily, but as far as the staff goes, we have hardly heard from them. We had somebody who supposedly tried to help us to get his Medicaid approved, but he was really rude. My father-in-law's room is a shared room, so he is with a roommate. They haven't told us anything about amenities. I think everything is just shut down. They aren't doing any socializing. They do have some outside areas. I think my father-in-law said that they let them outside a few times, not many times, but a couple of times. The building looks good. It looks newer, it is updated, and it looks great on the outside. I haven't seen the inside, but it looks really nice on the outside. I think the value is pretty good. He has Medicaid, so they're not charging him too much. I would give them a three just because their administration hasn't been very good. It may be higher if we could go inside and things were normal, but the way they're handling things during the pandemic, I would say it's a three right now.

My wife is at Broadmoor Medical Lodge. The staff is excellent and caring, and over this past year, I built up a rapport with everybody and made friends. They have activities for the people. They have ice cream socials, bingo, sewing, crafts, and they have singers come in and there's amazing church service on Sunday mornings. It's a really nice place and they keep it super clean. They have refrigerators, TVs, and plenty of closet space. It's a great place. They offer three meals a day. I liked the caring of the CNAs there, they have a rehab place there, and everybody works good. It's a really nice and clean environment. It's just a good place for my wife.

There were lots of residents at Arbor House of Rockwall. There's an indoor courtyard and they have a little cat that hangs out on the front porch for the residents to interact with. It was like a hotel setting on the inside, so it was real pretty. My mom liked the person there. The dining area was more like a restaurant setting where you go in and they give you some options and you can pick what you want for each meal.

Brookdale Summer Ridge was a more established, older community. They were remodeling at the time of our visit. We saw the dining area and it was very clean, very open, and very nice. The staff was very nice, very helpful, very upbeat, very positive, willing to help, and answered all the questions we had.

Brookdale Summer Ridge was older, clean and small, and I didn't see too many residents. The studio room that they showed me was very small, and the dining area was typical. The person who assisted me was very helpful and very nice. They had a salon, a very small library, a courtyard, a very small crafts room, and no swimming pool.
