I'm moving into Brookdale Memorial City. It has everything I need. My apartment has a full kitchen, they gave me covered parking, and they gave me a pendant to wear in case I fall. The bathroom is nice, and it has a big enough closet. I haven't seen anything except for my apartment yet because of the virus. Everything is closed in the building except for the apartments. They provide three meals a day.
We visited Brookdale Memorial City and we did not like it. It was depressing. The food service wasnt up to par, I didnt like the hallways, and they have separate laundry rooms instead of having laundry machines in your unit. The person who gave us the tour was Joanne and she was fine. They also have a terrible parking problem. The rooms were nice though. They do some activities like bus trips and things. Theres just something about the place, like a vibe, that we didnt like. The person who gave the tour did a really good job. They need to close the walkways because the walkways are open. It looks like an old apartment complex that has been converted.
Brookdale Memorial City was fine, but the rooms were a little dated. The two-bedroom had a full kitchen, but the kitchen and the bath were both outdated. They have a laundry facility, but it's not in the apartment, which is a drawback. They have a nice dining facility and beautiful gardens, but not a lot of the rooms looked out on the gardens. I didn't notice any patios or balconies on any of the apartments, and most of the walking is outdoors, because you're not enclosed when walking from building to building. They have a movie theater, a game room where you can play cards or checkers, and a library.
Brookdale Memorial City was beautiful. We really liked it, but it's too far away. I liked the rooms and the amenities, but mom didn't like the idea that she would have to eat somebody else's food. I told her she didn't have to eat that, but the fee automatically came with $300 that she could spend on food each month. The rooms were nice and had regular-sized kitchens, which I liked. It's a lot more expensive because they're going to give her food when she's not going to take it. The staff was very nice and very professional.
