Description of Apple Grove
Apple Grove Alzheimer's Residence & Adult Day Program is the foremost assisted living community in the Memphis area dedicated to caring for individuals suffering from memory loss. We are conveniently located with easy access to east Memphis, Germantown, Collierville and north Mississippi. Our facility is situated on five acres, which offers a secured environment, and is designed to prevent unaccompanied exits.
We have specially trained staff who receive ongoing continuing education and certification opportunities. Employees receive sensitivity training to develop an understanding about the debilitating effects of dementia. There is a dedicated activity coordinator to oversee enriching and stimulating events and activities. Residents receive three meals a day plus snacks and hydration regularly. On-site nurses attend to our residents twenty-four hours a day and chart blood pressure, weight, fluid and nutrition intake.

Apple Grove was a nice option, but care was a little bit further along than we need. I liked it. Everything was locked down, so Alzheimer's patients can't get out. I liked the kitchen, and the residents could do some cooking if they wanted to do that. It was very nicely laid out. There was a large area for a living space, and they had a theater room. There were plenty of areas for them to walk outside, and they had a garden area. It's a very lovely facility.

Apple Grove had a little bit more diversity in residents than other places, but they're very small, and they were very restrictive on accepting people. The rooms were a little bit better as far as the layout and since it was a smaller community, the staffing was much more immediate. The location was ideal for us, but they did not accept Mom. The dining area was great for the size of the facility, they had a good daily regimen of activities, and they had a great TV room.
