While I appreciated the fact that a bed opened for my Dad in a critical time, i did not want to keep him here any longer than needed. He is a Korean Vet and there were no other placements available through the Veterans Administration so this was our choice. My Daddy was never happy here. Every time my family visited, it always smelled of urine and poop. We would come to visit and have to change his bed or take him to get cleaned up, this was proof that the staff was over whelmed. This place is extremely understaffed! There was never enough clean linen, the food was questionable, and some of the staff were just plain rude. I was impressed with some of the staff that really showed care and the nurses, i am sure tried to do their best for the patients, however, it was a challenge. I moved my Daddy as soon as another bed opened up elsewhere. The family feels much better with his new placement. I think the Administrator needs to walk the halls a little more often and use some of her salary to buy more linens. I think the Veterans Administration need to evaluate their choices a little more strictly or add more facilities to their list. Our Vets deserve better than this place.

I visited this facilityReview of Brookdale Brushy Creek

We really liked the size of the rooms at Brookdale Brushy Creek. It had a good setting. If you walk out and you want to sit on the patio, there are pretty houses around. It's located in an attractive area. We've seen the dining room, and we were also very impressed with the staff. Overall, it looked like a very clean community.

Brookdale Brushy Creek has been very good. My uncle is there and we chose it for the homey atmosphere. However, it had a big problem with the cupula by the entrance. They had it on the side for the employees, and not for the customers, so they have to get soaking wet to come in. The management and the caregivers are all very nice. The food is fair, and the activities director has very limited activities that he would be interested in. Everybody there is really handicapped, almost like it should be a nursing home. It needs updating and paint, but their care is good.
