I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The “front desk” is nothing but rude “officers” none of the staff cares about this building. They have fun causing problems it seems. The amount of fires that have set off the sprinklers leading to floods and apartment change for the elderly. Best part about this, their one elevator breaks OFTEN. So what do the elders do on the 10th+ floor? Disrespectful, awful, heartless, rude staff. You’re better off calling the city police for help.

I visited this facility

I had an in-person visit at Discovery Village At Sandhill. It was out of my price range. For anybody that can afford it, it's an excellent community. They just showed me floor plans. They didn't have any apartment available to look at. They had a swimming pool, and they had a courtyard. They had benches in the courtyard. They had a walking trail, too.

I visited this facility

The rooms were a little small, but other than that it was fine. The person who assisted me on the tour was very nice. The dining area was clean, homey, and spacious. They had a salon and craft area. It was sitting on a pond, so they had a walking area in the back where you could walk down to the pond. It didn't seem as spacious as some of the others. Most of the other ones you walk into were very open and had high ceilings; this one seemed more closed in.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm very satisfied with independent living here at Forest Pines. The staff members are very competent and they do their job. The grounds are fine. They have a dog walking path, and that's where my dog and I do most of our walking. I'm in the smallest room that they have and it's fine. I have everything I need right here. I would recommend them.

It was wonderful and very clean. The rooms were big, and the dining room was beautiful. They had a covered patio in the back with a fence. The meal selections of the day looked very appetizing, and I really liked that they had a two-hour window for eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also had snacks throughout the day and big fancy pitchers of water with ice. I also really liked the studio apartments. The place was elegant and had chandeliers.

I liked the people here. The staff was very knowledgeable and the residents that I spoke to were very nice. I saw their studio and 1-bedroom apartments, they're larger but a little pricey. It's nice, clean, and also has a balcony. This community just re-opened, so everything is fresh and new. They have a pool, therapy room, and had the feeling of an apartment complex instead of a nursing home. It gives you a good feeling when you walk in. I really liked the person who gave me a tour, she was very nice. She took me into the dining room and made me meet some residents who were having lunch at that time and I got to ask them some questions. They have activities like Wine Thursday where they have wine, cookies, and crackers.

I visited this facility

I like the staff and the residents, but not the atmosphere in Forest Pines. It feels too much like walking into a hospital, not a retirement village. The rooms were plainly bedrooms and not apartments. The good thing about them is that you can move from independent living to assisted living if you need to, and you get to stay in one place. I'm very impressed with the staff and would rate them very highly. They also have a lot of activities and amenities. I saw people doing crafts in a room where there were quilts on the walls. I saw a bulletin board with a list of activities on it. The whole place itself was clean.

I visited this facility

I've decided on here. I liked it. On Mondays, there's a bus that goes to Walmart, on Wednesday it goes to the grocery store ,and they'd take you to every little nook and cranny of the place. The residents were very friendly, and they'd say "Hello" if you see them on the hallway. The place is also just 5 minutes from my house. The dining room was beautiful, big, and had lots of windows. The apartments were small, but there's a larger apartment with a really big closet pantry, but the closet in the bedroom would be smaller because that's where it would take up some room. I liked that they have a menu that is posted up on the wall, but if you don't like what they have that day, you can order something else. They always have chicken available -- fried or baked -- mashed potatoes, a hamburger, cheeseburger, hotdogs, or peanut butter and jelly if that's what you want. I just felt comfortable there. The place had pretty colors and lots of artwork on the walls. It's just very attractively done.

The Waterford at Columbia was very nice, really warm, and inviting. They had what looked like lots of activities, and there were a lot of people out when I toured. The rooms were not very new.
