I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This is the most terrible facility in Rhode Island. The staff is lazy and rude to current residents. My parents have not been comfortable and safe. I had to file a police report on a staff member for my mom. Her face is swollen from not getting proper teeth cleaned. My father doesn’t get physical therapy even tho his insurance does cover it. He doesn’t get bathed properly they are left in dirty diapers for hours . This place is a nightmare for any resident that lives there. It’s dirty and nasty in there at all times. I recommend this place be shut down immediately and never opened again. Terrible facility if I rated this facility from 1 to 10 I would rate it a 0

Our beloved Jack was treated with such compassion and dignity by the entire staff. He received excellent care. Our family was reassured and offered information always. The facility is very clean and quiet. We are very grateful. The Harrington Family.

My friend is at Smithfield Woods Senior Living. It's been fine. We've been down there a couple of times, and they kind of gave us a hard time about visiting because of the virus thing. I made an appointment a week before, and they didn't write it down, so they forgot when we were coming down. We went there from Massachusetts, but we weren't able to see her. Otherwise, everything seems to be going OK. It was a good place. Although I didn't see much of it, it seems pretty clean. The only complaint she told us about was you have to pay $150 for a bath, and they give her a bath once a week. She complains about having to pay that, which is money she doesn't have. The staff was good, and the communication was good, too. Her room was dark, but it was all right. They had trouble with the braces for the toilet that helps her to get on and off, and they took the time to fix it. She's also diabetic, and they're careful about the type of food they give her. They have a chapel, and she's able to do the rosary, which she likes to do.

I visited this facility

My father was a resident of Pacifica Senior Living Victoria Court. Some of the staff members were fantastic, but the others were airheads lacking common sense. The food was terrible, and the staff members were leaving, so they were lacking hands. It started going downhill when they changed directors twice. They have an activity room where they can watch TV, do puzzles, and paint, stuff like that. They also have a little exercise class downstairs, but a lot of times we're waiting for them to take my mother down. It wasn't that great. It wasn't a new building, but everything was clean, nice, and well-maintained.

My mother has been placed at The Village at Waterman Lake. It's absolutely fantastic. They do not incorporate the assisted living with the independent living. The dementia is not incorporated with the assisted living. There's a nursing home unit that is separate from everything, a dementia unit that is separate from everything, there's a hospice unit, and doctor's office, and physical therapy on-site. It's absolutely elegant and the pricing is very reasonable. The staff is fantastic. The people that have been working there have been there for five, ten, 15, and 20 years. The ratio for clientele to resident is 1:5 or 1:10. They're on-call 24/7. There's always somebody to reach. It's a very high class unit. It overlooks the water and there is green area. They know my mother by name. They could tell me in one second where she was when I walk in the door. It's not a corporation. It's privately owned. They have people that come in and play music for them, they take them on boat rides around the lake, they go shopping, they have exercise classes, play bingo, and watch movies daily. The residents can request the movie they want to see, they have cards, nails, manicure, and hairdressing. There's something to do every five minutes. They have outdoor eating areas and her dining room overlooks the water with chandeliers. It was the best deal I could find. It's phenomenal. It was voted the best assisted and independent living area in Rhode Island for the last two years.

I visited this facility

We toured Waterman Lake. It was lovely, the grounds were lovely, but it was very far removed. We felt like it was away from everything. The rooms were nice, but they were more nursing home rooms, and it seemed institutionalized.

I visited this facility

The Village at Waterman Lake was very nice. They named their buildings The Chalet and The Courtyard. The Chalet was the independent living for my dad. That was wonderful and would suit his needs beautifully. The Courtyard also was very nice. They had gone on a field trip somewhere when I was there. When I went into the memory care program at the Courtyard, the residents were all sitting with the staff members around a couple of tables. They were all talking and laughing, and were all engaged with each other, which was a very nice thing to see. I would recommend it from what I saw.
