Magnolias of Chambersburg was very nice. The person who gave me the tour was excellent, very knowledgeable, and pleasant to deal with. There were activities and things to do. The dining room seemed nice, clean and as far as I could tell, there was an area where they did buffet and the menu options looked really good.

Manorcare Health Services Chambersburg is all on one floor. It's a typical nursing home, and there's all kinds of needs there. So you have people who are incontinent, and that actually creates some of the odor that's in the place. It's very full. It's for people who have fewer resources. I was there to visit a neighbor that's doing rehab there. The staff member was very helpful. Because I was not a family member they could not give me information -- because of the privacy act -- and I was grateful for that. They bring the meals on carts into the rooms and the residents eat in their rooms. They have an activity room, and I would accompany my friend to physical therapy, and then physical therapy would also come to him. The PT people are super great. The layout is very convoluted but it's OK. Though they are known for their physical therapy, it is a stinky nursing home with a lot of people who need that kind of service. You walk into the lobby and you sign into the guest tablet, and then when you open the double doors that's what hits you at the first nurse's station. They told me the smell was their laundry closet.
