Legend at Mingo Road

Legend At Mingo Road was very nice, but we couldn't afford it. It's pretty much the same as the other senior communities we went to. The food is good. They gave us something to take home and it was really good. Their rooms were very nice and sophisticated, and the staff was also very nice; just as nice as everybody else. They have the same activities as the other places I visited, like they do outings or go out to restaurants. I've seen the dining area but I haven't tried the food (except for the little desserts they gave us to take home). The dining area was very clean and restaurant quality.

Legend at Mingo Road was very nice, but the units were smaller and more expensive. It's a newer community, but I didn't think it was as good of a fit for our needs. The staff who assisted me was great; she was very helpful. There were plenty of activities, but I didn't observe them.

We have chosen Legend at Mingo Road for my sister-in-law. I visit there a lot with friends. It has always been a warm, really pretty place. I feel my sister-in-law would be comfortable there. It's not a really big place. Nice residents. I heard the food is good. It looks like my sister-in-law is going to have a nice view. It's very small compared to what she's used to, but it's still a quiet place. I like that, too. The staff who helped me and talked to me was very nice and helpful. The building was lovely.

I went by Legend at Mingo Road when we were touring for my father-in-law's move, and the striking thing about there is walking in and going into one of the rooms to view the room it smelled heavily of urine. The facility looked great, but that aroma of urine is a quick turnoff. Because of that experience, I make sure that people know that's not a good place to go. They could've cleaned it up, and they may not always smell that way, but it sure smelled of pee when we went. The staff was friendly and positive. I even commented on it, "It smells like pee in here." They had a television room and it had books in it, but they didn't have a lot of communal gathering areas from what I saw. They did menu type style meals. The place was acceptable, but not the best.

Mom is in memory care at Legend at Mingo Road. The facilities are very nice, but the level of care is not very good, especially if the residents become older and need more care. Basically, they feed them breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the meals are adequate. They have music class, some games every afternoon, and physical and mental exercises. They need to improve their training of the staff. They do her laundry, but they took her laundry to wash it 11 days ago and they lost her sheets and all of her pants. They found it eventually, but they just mixed everybody's laundry together. They should have better supervision and better administration. The room she's in now has a double window and you can look out onto the parking lot. She actually looks at everybody coming and going.
